17-55 F2.8, sharp, cover my usual zoom range
on my camera 100% of the time... bcos my another lens is D40 kit lens.;p

In the world of autofocus, it has to be the AF-S 17-35mm f2.8.

The AF 85mm f1.4 ain't that far behind though.

(For manual, it was, and still are, the Ai-S 35mm f1.4 & Ai 105mm f2.5)

Sorry, but good things do come in pairs :)

maybe later on the AF 85mm overtake by AFS85mm/f.14....:devil:

Surprised nobody mentioned the Nikon 17-55 2.8, by far my favourite.

Definitely, Maybe

Saving up for it + the baby af-s 14-24mm f2.8 but that's for the future :)

very very interesting posts from all.thanks very much for sharing your favourites!
judging from thread so far, i think 85 1.4 tops the list?

actually, it's also one of my favourites.

so is the 14-24
so is the 24-70
so is the 200-400...
so is the 105dc...
so is the...

oh sorry:embrass:...i mentioned only ONE in the first thread.so i will stick to my 70-200 for it's versatility and vr as mentioned.:)

ha ha...

this was my experience with the 85mm F1.4

I bought it initially for portrait, then I found that it is extremely good for low light indoor or when flash photography is not allowed and AF still works in such poor lighting conditions.

Then I found that although at 85mm, i can still use it as a walk-about lens (yes! amazing)...

Then with some extension tube, you get yourself a nifty macro lens :bsmilie:

Should have started a poll then you can see the bar... ;p

70-200 for sure, just a magnificent piece of machinery.

Love the 70-200mm too but i lately it has gotta be my new 24mm PC :bsmilie:

Ryan

It would be an AFS 35 f1.4 when it comes, but now still the much maligned 18-200 VR.

being a poor student, its gotta be the 50mm f1.8 for me :bsmilie:
prolly the best bang-for-buck nikkor lens you can buy....never disappointed me :)

my FAVOURITE nikon lens of the future?
prolly the 85mm f1.8 / f1.4. BUYBUYBUY!!

Tough call...
Nikkor 80-200mm f2.8 or 50mm f1.4
I doubt any future afs standard primes will be better than the existing ones...

80-200 has one touch or two touch right?which one's yours?
