Your Favourite Canon PRIME

Hey guys!

I'm thinking of saving up for a new prime.poison poison~!! but i just wanna hear
whats the view out there.

I LOVEEEEEE UWA and landscapes but i guess i've got a 17-40 to cover that.

So i'm prob looking more into street photog kinda stuff & portraiture.
I was thinking a 135L. What say you? :)

Looking at ur signature. U got both crop and ff

i would suggest these two.

50mm L... on ur ff its fast for street.
on crop its can be portraiture.

85mm L... on ff its ultimate potraits. can do street too since u like tele street shooting
on crop, fov as 135 f2

135L is a great outdoor portrait lens for it's IQ and price, however for indoor usage (even on a FF) beside the limited space. Most likely you may need to pump up your ISO/shutter speed (if you are not using strobe/flash) in order to avoid handshake.

This is one of the reason why 85L is sometime preferred than this lens.

Price wise... I prefer 135mm.... :bsmilie:

I shoot landscapes so I must say: the TS-E 17mm f/4L . Incredibly sharp into the extreme corners when settings are on neutral and the tilt and shift capabilities are amazing as well.

my dream set...

24 L, 50 L, 85 L... done... enough.. cos need to eat bread for one whole year le.. lol...:think::think:

I would advice... spend within your means..... not worth to eat bread for 1 yr... accidents do happens, and must have money for standby too......

Get the 85L; on FF, no regrets

WTB 135L to make a team with current 24TSII and 50/1.4. Done.

FF use 135mm, Crop use 85mm. I love the 135 f1.4, very good for portrait up close.

haha, no la, i just say say only... i will not be buying... money can be spent on other things... not few thousand dollars on lens...

HO HO HO. Overwhelming replies man. THANKS EVERYONE. 85L is way toooo pricey.
Looks like everyone is givin the 135L good comments. Thought about the 35L before but read that the lens is 10yrs old and might be due for a new version.

I think the PRIME contestants has always been 135L, 85LII, 35L, 24L II.
OH WELLS :)

Given my limited experience with all the various prime lenses, I am most impressed by 135 f/2L. Simply wonderful for portraits

So far for me.... For shooting sharp images... my 100mm F2.8 Macro is my work horse lens in this......

EF 50mm f1.8 II. This is my fav coz this is the only one i can afford. Arguably the most bang for your buck.

Well, if you have this concern, then you shouldn't be considering 135L since it is 2.5 years older than the 35L and is also rumored to have a version II coming. The youngest of the lot that you have listed above is 24L II.

Here are the launched date of these lenses:
24L II - 12/2008 (24L - 11/1988)
85L II - 03/2006 (85L - 09/1989)
35L - 12/1998
135L - 04/1996

second that... got one to shoot my son after selling off the 1.4 version (cos usually shoot F2 and above) and got baq $400 extra cash :)... best bang for bucks... and its light too!

Alamak! How can we compare to 35L to 135L! They are 100mm of difference!

Just buy the one you need! :)
