Guys,

Please share your personal favorites and why.

1. HCB - Don't think I need to say much about this guy. His photos will speak for itself. I love his wartime photos

2. Sabestiao Salgado - His protraits of third world countries like Africa, South America are fantatics!!! Rich tone and great compositions. If you've not checked out his photo book - Africa, you must. Very good quality prints! Salgado is mainly a R6 users with 3 lenses - 28, 35 n 60. He also uses M6 with 3 lenses setup

3. Jim Marshall - Rock n Roll Photographer. He had documentated the rise of Rock n Roll from the Early Days. He will be missed. He combined two of my favorite hobbies. Rock n Roll & Blues music and photography.

Terry & Yone rocks!!! I prefer Yone, I like asian flavour ;p

Yep, a lot of sex sells shots from him but he also did a lot of fashion mag shots which are damn power!

I still remember Terry doing a shoot & the fella turned up with only a Yashica T4! hahaha! The model got shocked!

I quite amused that Yonehara uses Ricoh GRD III PNS for some of his xmm shoots. See here: http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5663298&postcount=147

Like, Yonehara, Terry Richardson also uses Ricoh GRD3 and Ricoh GXR for many of his shots on www.terrysdiary.com. For Pirelli, Terry used a Nikon DSLR. I think he does not use Yashica T4 except is certain parties only.

you are right Yonehara and Terry Richardson are basically same pattern (ie. gravure photography). But they are not 100% film photographer.

They are all film cameras.

I think the first two cameras are the Fuji Instax Mini. The second one looks like the Mini 7s. The third camera looks like a Diana.

Looks like a Diana with instax back

Great stuffs guys!!! Keep them coming. Am glad I started this thread. More un-sung heroes and great photographers who are still alive and living their art.

emm, i don't really know any famous photographers, and i spent most of my time lurking around in flickr, so my fave ones will be HIM, HIM and HER :)

Alamak! Its Yen! Met her a couple of times before

too many of them... Yonehara not sure about him. But Richardson is definitely my fav too..

just to list afew..

1. martin parr (mamiya 7 RF)
2. Sugimoto (all time favorite)
3. Joel Sternfeld (8x10 Large Format)
4. Koudelka
5. James natchway (his pictures are damn powerful and sad. Watch the video, "War Photographer" there is a mini camera that is attached to him to see his camera's field of view, and u can see him deciding when to take a photo. Very powerful and raw, high recommended. of course u can see him using the EOS 1, with 16-35mm F2.8 lens, in aperture priority mode. shooting mostly in F5.6. Tri-X, and enlarging it in a darkroom with a super big piece of paper. LOLOLOL)
6. Guy Bourdin of course..

Tommy Oshima.

Delicious gear, delicious photos.
