Some good news for the club...

Liverpool FC reports first profit for seven years

The club reported a pre-tax profit of £0.9m in the year to 31 May 2014, compared with losses of £49.8m a year earlier.

Revenues were 19% higher at £255.6m, the club added.

Highlighting the importance of TV broadcast revenue, Liverpool said media revenues increased 46% to £100.9m.

That compared with a 5% increase in commercial revenue to £103.8m, as the club agreed seven new sponsorship deals.

It said several more had been agreed in the new financial year.

The club also reported a £12.2m rise in net debt to £57.3m.

But it added overall debt had decreased from £237m since 2010 when Fenway Sports Group, the US investment company run by John W Henry, took control of the club.

Liverpool has also now moved back up to ninth place in Deloitte's Football Money League, having dropped to 12th place the previous year.

'Good progress'
The figures cover a stronger period for the club on the pitch, when they came close to winning their first league title since 1990 and qualified for the Champions League.

Chief executive Ian Ayre said he was pleased to see the club back in the black.

Mr Ayre said: "We continue to make good financial progress. Although these results are nearly 12 months old, they demonstrate that the transitional period we've been through over the past four years has stabilised the club and provided a platform for growth.

"Revenue has been consistently increasing from around £170m in 2009 to over £250m today and our commercial revenues continue to add strength to our overall results."

He said match-day revenue also increased by £5m, mainly as a result of the club's successful pre-season tour in Asia and Australia. He said the club would now look to grow this area, following the announcement of the main stand expansion at its Anfield stadium.

First by Henderson 2nd by sturridge assisted by Henderson!!

2-0 now.

Henderson is really improving. Very good now.

A glimpse of Gerrard in Henderson now, his point point passes behind the line and the outside of the box thunder shot :) a good win as it's the 3rd game in 7 short days. Too bad we didn't get more goals to improve the Goal difference and Manu got a lucky win on the 89min gifted by old castle :(

Henderson will be better. But felt sterling is over rated. His movement is easily predictable. Manchester United is lucky. They have been rolling with luck lately.

A good win, keep us in the hunt with the Top 4, considering all top 4 teams won their matches as well.

Henderson is shaping up to be an able player to take over Stevie's captain armband.

Sterling is still young. Hopefully he'll work on his repertoire of moves.

Download Caught offside apps, it will have all the highlights :)

Is this the 1st LFC headed goal for 14/15 season ? Can't remember when is the last time ...

Anfield to host all star charity match

A unique charity football match to benefit the people of Liverpool will take place at Anfield later this month, which will include two All-Star line-ups of some of Europe's elite players.

The event, which has been organised by Liverpool FC's official charity, the Liverpool FC Foundation, will bring together two teams that will be selected by Steven Gerrard and Jamie Carragher as some of the most influential players they have played with or against.

Gerrard will take on the role of captain for one team, while Carragher will take on the same role for the other All-Star side. Managers and the final line-up of each All-Star team will be announced in the coming weeks.

Player recruitment is well underway, and players confirmed include Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres, Pepe Reina, Dirk Kuyt, Xabi Alonso, Thierry Henry, John Terry and Didier Drogba, to name a few.

Current Reds first-team players who are not on international duty will also play some part, as well as some of the Academy's brightest stars, plus the club's backroom staff will also be on hand to offer support.

Gerrard will leave Liverpool at the end of the season and this special match will give fans the opportunity to see him alongside some of their favourites - all to raise funds for the local community.
