Luis Suarez showing a 'total lack of respect', says Rodgers :thumbsup:

The Anfield boss rubbished Suarez's claims that he promised him he could leave this summer.

Brendan Rodgers has accused Luis Suarez of showing “a total lack of respect” to Liverpool Football Club as the disgraced striker was banished to training on his own.

The Anfield boss rubbished Suarez's claims that he promised him he could leave this summer if the Reds failed to qualify for the Champions League.

And Rodgers insists the Uruguayan has no grounds to take legal action over the disputed clause in his contract which Suarez believes should enable him to join Arsenal for £40million plus £1.

The ECHO understands that Liverpool's owners remain absolutely adamant that Suarez will not be sold to the Gunners, regardless of whether they increase their offer over the coming weeks.

Rodgers has vowed to take “strong and decisive action” against Suarez following his outspoken attack on the club.

“There were no promises made - categorically none - and no promises broken,” Rodgers said.

“The club and his representatives had several conversations and he knew exactly where he was at.

"I think Luis knows the support he's had at the football club and that's something that's been unswerving throughout the whole of last season.

“Obviously the remarks I've read are bitterly disappointing - but my job is bigger than that.

“My job is to fight and protect the club. The conversations I've had with him, he knows I've had and they will remain private.

“I will take strong, decisive action, absolutely. There has been total disrespect of the club - this is a lack of respect of a club that has given him everything. Absolutely everything.

“I really, really feel sorry for the supporters, people that have sung his name. We have travelled the world over the course of this pre-season. 85,00 fans were singing Luis' name in Jakarta. It was the same in Australia, in Thailand and at Steven Gerrard's testimonial.

“I don't believe there is a clause in his contract that says he can leave for any sort of price.”

The decision to make Suarez train on his own away from the first team squad isn't due to the interview he gave earlier this week.

Instead it's punishment for what Rodgers deems to be the poor attitude he has shown during friendly matches and training sessions recently.

The ECHO understands he hasn't been fined for his verbal attack on the club but he has been reprimanded.

“I will ensure that whatever does come out will retain the respect and dignity of the football club, which is paramount,” said Rodgers, following tonight's 4-1 win over Valerenga in Oslo.

“I'm not going to go through the conversations he had with the football club. It's been fairly simple. With Luis I said quite clearly what we wanted to do and what the plan was. The plan was to make him the focal point of the team.

"He had an opportunity to leave last summer but he believed in the philosophy of what we are trying to do, to improve him as a player. He's never had a better season than what he had last year.

"We have made his game flourish. We can understand if he wants to play in the Champions League – but that doesn't mean we've broken any promise.
“Last season we based our team around his qualities and last season I made some big calls in moving players on in order for his game to flourish.

“This has come out on Wednesday morning and obviously my concentration has been on this game and on the players that are here.

“I will deal with the rest when I get home. It won't be on Thursday because I have got the Premier League managers' meeting but it will be over the next 48 hours.”

Rodgers insists Suarez's behaviour changes little about the club's position on his future. They will only consider bids which are representative of his market value – in excess of £50million.

But the manager admits Suarez could only play for Liverpool again if he apologies to the supporters for his conduct.

Asked if there was a way back for the Uruguayan, he said: “We first of all need to assess where it's at. At this moment things have been said that are derogatory against the football club and his team-mates and the supporters.

“There's a few bridges to cross before that can happen (play for Liverpool again). It's about the respect, that's the only thing we look for.

“This is one of the most iconic football clubs in the world, you can't disrespect it. That's something I will ensure (an apology) before anything happens in the future. That bridge will need to be crossed.

"I understand that every coach and every player wants to work at the highest level. I understand his ambition, but this is a club that is historically been one of the very best in the world. We can get right back up there and fight to be there.

"What we are trying to do is get the correct value for a player. The reality is we don't want to sell Luis Suarez, it's as simple as that.

“He is important for what we are trying to do. There have been a couple of offers but no promises broken - that's the reality.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool dismissed reports that they have received a £17million bid from Barcelona for centre-back Daniel Agger. The Reds have no intention of selling the Dane.

no point keeping an unhappy player who may be even more disruptive in the coming season.

Has anyone figured out what is the effective price for EPL on each of the carriers then???.. there is a lot of text in every article I read.. after a while I totally blah blah..

LFC should just sell Suarez. He's going to be trouble when season comes, poor work attitude, etc. How to score goals ?

Jay Spearing undergoes medical after Bolton Wanderers agree fee with Liverpool

MIDFIELDER Jay Spearing is undergoing a medical at Bolton Wanderers today after the Whites agreed a fee with Liverpool for his permanent transfer.

The 24-year-old has been a target for boss Dougie Freedman this summer after a successful loan spell last season saw him play 39 games for Wanderers, scoring twice.

Earlier in the summer, it appeared they would miss out on the Liverpudlian after Championship rivals Blackburn agreed a fee for his transfer.

But a deal fell through and Spearing is now set for a return to the Reebok full-time.

Bench him also need to pay him every week loss loss situation. Sad to see the situation turn worst

No way out: John W Henry puts block on any Luis Suarez sale

JOHN W HENRY has warned Luis Suarez he will not be sold to any club at any price in the transfer window and denounced the notion of the striker leaving Liverpool to join Arsenal as “ludicrous”.

Liverpool’s principal owner has told Arsenal chief executive Ivan Gazidis he will not countenance strengthening a rival for a Champions League place.

Suarez will continue to train on his own until he apologises for the lack of respect he has shown to Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers, his team-mates and fans.

Henry said: “We are not going to sell Luis.

“I’m unequivocal that we won’t sell to Arsenal, whatever the bid is. We’re not in Europe this year and have not been in the Champions League for a while.

“Obviously to sell to a rival for those positions, or one of them, would be ludicrous. He won’t be sold even if a foreign club comes in because we do not have time to sign a suitable replacement.”

Valencia full-back Cissokho: I've reached an agreement with Liverpool curry sauce

The defender has revealed the two clubs are at loggerheads over the deal, with the Liga side keen for a sale and the Reds hoping for a loan with an option to buy

Valencia left-back Aly Cissokho has revealed that he has reached an agreement with Liverpool and that it is now up to the clubs to negotiate a deal to take him to Anfield.

The Premier League side have been busy in the transfer market with four signings to date - Simon Mignolet, Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto - but are light on full-backs following the retirement of Jamie Carragher and Jack Robinson's loan move to Blackpool.

And Cissokho has now claimed he is close to joining Liverpool, but states the two club are at loggerheads over the structure of the deal with Valencia after a sale and the Reds keen on a loan-to-buy option.

"Liverpool have made me an offer and it is true that I have reached an agreement with them," he told Le 10 Sport. "It is now up to the clubs to agree terms. I expect to know more later this week.

"If nothing happens this week, it probably means that I will not be going to Liverpool.

"The conditions of the transfer are the problem. Liverpool prefer a loan deal with an option to buy, while Valencia want to sell straight away. If the transfer doesn't take place, it's not a problem either. I am feeling well at Valencia."

Cissokho made 20 appearances for Valencia last term after joining from Lyon on a four-year deal.

Hmmm.....I'm not sure if playing hardball with Suarez is the best option for LFC. History has shown that Suarez is quite prepared to force his way out of the club, using lawsuits and ugly means if necessary. Failing which he might just sulk his way through the entire season. All of which does not augur well for LFC, as you will be losing your best player anyway because his heart is no longer there, and you will have missed an opportunity to use the 40mil to strengthen the squad. Arsenal have seen their best players leave over the last few seasons, yet still managed to qualify for the CL, perhaps LFC can learn from that and sign good players who give less trouble to the club.

But using this 40m to show the other clubs that Liverpool are no longer like last time. Buy high sell low. Think Michael Owen and Andy Carroll. I think it's better in the long run. If suarez wants to sulk his way through world cup year. He can jolly well do that. My thoughts.

he can cry one corner.

even the PFA chief said that there is no chance Suckeraz can pull through a move this month.

but I would probably be prepared to see him leave for some other european clubs for 50mil GBP.

I think you are right about the kind of players that we should be signing.. BUT I think LFC management know what to expect from him and they are just going to play very hard ball in order to raise the fee... The old fox, Fergie was good at that.... No way I am selling, he is such a good player.. in the meantime get the replacement ready.. raise the price... sell and replace and make a profit... I think that's where we are going....
