Liverpool have reportedly had a loan move for David Villa rejected, with Barcelona insisting on a permanent deal for the Spain striker.

The 31-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at the Nou Camp and is keen on a move away, with the Premier League rumoured to be his preferred destination.

Reds boss Brendan Rodgers is keen to bolster his forward line in January to provide support for Luis Suarez, who is the club's only fit senior striker.

A deal for Chelsea forward Daniel Sturridge is close to being wrapped up and it appears Rodgers is ready to add Villa to his squad as well.

However, while the Reds would prefer a loan move for the former Valencia hit-man, Barcelona will only entertain a permanent deal.

We are in deep Shitz, every time ask for loan deal or asking low price for good player. If there is so good deal the rich oil clubs would snap it up already who wants to come LFC now :( not every club is so kuku like us to loan a 35 million pound striker out

We still haven't learn the art of chopping others carrot. lol

Nothing wrong with negotiating, start low and see whether you can cut a deal. As for the oil clubs.. sometimes they buy too many players and then they loan 1~2 out!!!! But yeah.. we can be very kuku at times.. Pay for him 35mil and then loan him and then be left with only 1 recognised striker.. !!!! Aioooooo.... :)

Yea, please get BA.
Prefer BA over Sturridge.

We're constantly powered down by opponent aggression for most of matches.
Liverpool need to gear up the FIRE abit more.
The players we have now is so much subdued.
No fire? No commitment? Lost interest?

Nevertheless, another small size player is not really what we need now.

The 23-year-old becomes our first signing of the January transfer window after penning a long-term contract at Melwood today.

Afterwards he told Liverpoolfc.com of his joy at sealing the deal.

"I am humbled and happy to be here," said Sturridge.

"Brendan Rodgers said he sees me here for a long time - and I also see myself here for a long time. I've not signed here to play for a couple of years and then move on.

"I've signed to be here for as long as possible. It's a humongous club - for me, one of the biggest in the world - and to have the fans and world-class players we have here is amazing."

Sturridge began his professional career at Manchester City, where he finished top-scorer as City lifted the FA Youth Cup in 2008.

In 2009 he signed for Chelsea where he established himself as one of the best young forwards in the country, firing 24 times during his stay at Stamford Bridge.

His form at Chelsea led to full international recognition at the age of just 22.

Having scored 21 goals in 34 appearances for England at youth level, Fabio Capello handed him a senior bow in a friendly against Sweden in November 2011.

He has collected three more caps since and last summer scored twice for Great Britain at the Olympic Games.

i think sturridge will shine in liverpool if he remains as striker... not AVB style ask him to perform as flank attackers.

suarez as between flank and middle will sure better his game.

with villa if he does comes..... then liverpool got chance if top 6....
