ur GSN should work with or without a battery if i'm not wrong..... but the shuttter will be at a certain speed only....

hope ur's not spoiled.....

i just got my GSN also and finished a roll of film too.... now have to wait 1 week..... i need to find another processing lab........

maybe we newbies can meet up and snap!!!! wakakaka....

You don't even need to put film in actually...

You'll need a 4LR44 battery first, which can be found in almost any film developing lab. You'll need some aluminum foil to act as spacer as well as the battery is a bit short in height before you put the battery cover back.

In theory, you can choose the lowest ASA and set your aperture to f/16 and point the camera towards something dark, the orange "SLOW" indicator should light up telling you that the resulting photo will be under exposed. You can do the reverse by choosing the fastest ASA and choose f/1.7 and point it towards a bright sky and the red "OVER" indicator should light up.

If the camera can make a proper exposure, you'll never see the two lights light up.

One common thing to look out (well, listen, really) for with the 35GSN is the very faint "clunk" sound whenever you wind the film advance lever. Sounds like a pencil eraser when you tap it on a table. That SHOULD HAPPEN on a normal GSN, if it's not, then the pad thing is worn out.

Other stuff to look out for are generic to (film) cameras... fungus on lens, whether the viewfinder/rangefinder and focus split image thingy is clear, leaking light seals (can be seen with broken foam surrounding the rear film door, etc etc etc.

Your shutter speed will be limited to 1/200 if you're not using any batteries =)

The default shutter speed in an Electro35 with no batteries is 1/500

If you are coming from a slr, it could be that the gsn shutter is so soft you don't notice it firing. What I usually do is to point the camera at a light source, open the back and fire the shutter. If you see a flicker, thats the shutter opening and it works.

i tried diff ways to connect the battries to fill the gap and click on the battery check button but it doesnt seems to light up the green light

are there signs of corrosion in the battery box, on the cap or the spring up inside?

cud the light be spoilt??????

I wouldn't worry too much about the green battery check light. Mine won't light up either but the exposure lights do.

Ok if you have no battery check light. Also if you have no lights for over/under exposure in the finder or on top you have a power issue. If you battery adapter is built correctly make sure the spring is clean inside the battery box. Also the cap is clean. You can test for power by setting the camera to B and f1.7. If there is power you will see the shutter open. If not could be dirty connections or a common problem is the power wire on top of the battery box under the top cover. The vapor from the merc battery will damage this wire breaking the connection.

If this dose not help let me know and I will help work down the list of possible issues for you.

^ i tried the bulb and 1.7 thing but doesnt work for me i think i have been cheated how can i fixed this now

Ok if the shutter dose not open on B and stay open you have no power ( the shutter is electronic ) you need to find out why you have no power. 1st make sure you battery is good. What are you using? we will start from scratch. The easiest adapter is 4 X 1.5 batteries ( LR44 ) roll a paper tube out of card stock wrapped in tape the approx size of the battery tube. Use tin foil to fill the end ( the 4 batteries are not long enough ) This gives you 6 volts in the approx size of the original 5.5v battery.

currently using 4LR44 battery with a spring to complete the connection, i think i will go get 4 X LR44 batteries to try later thanks for all the help ;)

Sorry to OT abit, just wanna ask if anyone knows if a faulty advance lever can be repair? Apparently it doesnt spring back automactically.

tried with 4LR44 and 4x LR44 and still does work i think i am cheated
