The pad of death is one to really be looking out for.

I did a short review user opinion review on the Yashica GS here.

Hi,

almost everything you need can be found here.

An intuitive way of checking would be to run through the process of shooting:

  • rewind
  • half-shutter to meter
  • choosing your aperture
  • choosing your shutter-speed
  • focusing
  • firing off

Check for any anomalies.

Then just check the insides for rust, corrosion or any anomalies.
Check lens for fungus, scratches or any anomalies.
Check shutter-speeds, bulb mode working etc.

Or just bring a knowledgable friend along and ask nicely if the seller can give you a few days personal warranty.

One of the best value for money rangefinders. See the photoethnography site - has good description.
Checks:
1) that you have the battery adapter to use common batteries.
2) no light leaks etc

Even though we do not encourage spoonfeeding but replies like this is not helpful at all. If you have any knowledge about the camera, its always better to just provide the information or link to the website.

Search thru wikipedia website :)
