Hello guys,

Please help answer these questions.

1. Should I turn on the x.v.Color (a.k.a. xvYCC) function on my HD video camera if the target is :

a) Youtube?
b) DVD-Video?
c) Blu-ray?

2. Can I record all video with x.v.Color turn on and later reprocess the video if less color gamut is needed?

3. Does it takes up more storage space?

Thank you.

What camera is that ? Mine don't have any setting called x.v.Color or xvYCC.

it should be a canon right? which model?

I have HV30 and XH-A1. I also used other brands in the past but don't remember seeing this setting before.

think its one of the newer Legria HF-SXX models.

I just did a search to find out what x.v.color is. For the 3 target viewing environments mentioned, none of these supports expanded colour, so I think there is not much point shooting with this option turned on. At best, it will only generate larger file sizes.

If you intend to play back from the cam to a compatible LCD panel, you might get the benefit of the x.v.color, but probably depends on how the cam was used and what the subject was.

The x.v.Color setting is activated when Digital Cinema Color function is turn on.

Does recording in x.v.Color and later viewing it with unsupported display, results in washout colors?

i think Canon has x.v. Color too.. it can be found in my Legria HF-S100..
