X-T1

I have Fuji x100, hence not new to Fuji cam. Considering still due to a few factors :

1) autofocus (I know Fuji autofocus have improved since x100 and x-t1 is faster)
2) kit lens (still waiting for 18-135 lenses to be released)

Plus points
1) good lens selection
2) love Fuji color
3) need another lighter cam with interchangeable lens for travel (instead of my dslr)

Thinking.....

I am also considering x-t1. What are ur areas of concern. Actually mine is main price and also that I don't know much abt fuji. Went to fuji showroom at funan today to play with the range of fuji cams. Both x-t1 and xe2 felt quite refreshing in its handling. Pictures on the lcd looked nice. The 56/1.2 mounted on the t1 was tad slow in af (compared to my oly e-p5). The 18-55 on e-p2 was better though I feel still slower than the e-p5.

Anyway the price of the t1 can buy 2 x A6 with change to spare but in terms of specs they are not so different. In fact a6 specs better in some aspects. So whilst I like the x-t1 (and xe2 for that matter) I wonder if I will be getting good value for my money *think*

If it was 30% cheaper (or if I shoot more often) it would already be in my hands now...

Btw, the SRP of the 18-135 is kraaazzyyy....

500 more than c and n equal right?

Possibly anticipating XT1b/p. But that's just rumour.

There will be a chrome version being released soon with slightly updated specs, whether it will be bundled with the WR18-135 remains to be confirmed :)

Fuji X-mounts are definitely still behind in AF speed and accuracy compared to the MFT bodies, especially if u are comparing higher end models like the EP5 , EM1.

However if u are discussing SOOC colors and higher ISO performance, Fuji generally has the upper hand.

I believe Fuji will improve this slowly with future firmware upgrades. MFT AF also started horrible too with the now defunct EP1 and now the AF speed and accuracy is so good I can even shoot blind or from the hip with the EP5.

My question for u will be: 'is Weather resistant , a larger grip and a SLR form important to u?' If not , then save the few hundred dollars and get the X-E2. Performance wise both cameras share the same processor and sensor and as such performance is basically identical though the X-T1 has a slightly better VF. I do MF (to me it's faster) for most of my shots on my Fuji's and I've no issue with my X-E2's VF.

I'm going to use Fuji with her primes , WR I already have the EM1 hence it's the X-E2 for me.

REALLY?!?! Though I'm a "black" person, do you have any source that I can see how it looks like? Or just simply google?

Just be patient and wait.
Anyway like all rumors go, it's all rumors until the product arrives into the shops right ? ;)

Thanks, I think u really hit the nail on the head. I do like the SLR form of the T1 and though I have never liked evf (I sold my VF4 the next day after buying my ep5) but I was impressed with T1's evf and I think I would indeed use it which would then allow me to shoot like an DSLR. The question is do I like it enough to pay the extra $500 given then I usually only shoot a few times a year during certain events? Who knows maybe the T1 will change me.

Also see this: http://www.fujivsfuji.com/xt1-vs-xe2-vs-xpro1 - the XE2 didn't come off sounding very good....

I am afraid if I get the XE2, I will end up feeling like I got a second rate item. But for the price of the T1 kit I can get a Sony A6k + SEL 18-105/4G + SEL 35/1.8 prime lens and STILL have a couple of hundred bucks to spare.

Anyway thanks again for your advice. It's exactly what I am thinking. But its a battle between heart and mind - I just can't put a value to how much I am willing to pay for the few added "nice to haves" of the T1 and whether at the end of the day, I will be better served with the A6 combo. I don't think Sony's IQ is significantly inferior looking at the A6k image thread.

He means tgat fuji lens more ex than c & n brand lens

Oh ok. I think slightly more than $500. Anyway I have abandoned those 2 brands so wasn't comparing against them. I am comparing with sony. The Fuji 18-135/3.5-5.6 (SRP $1399) can buy sony 18-105 constant f4 ($799 SRP) and you will still have $600 change.

I don't think Sony's IQ is that bad looking at the A6k image thread. Note to potential buyers, there is quite a good GSS promo now where they are giving the 50-230mm lens FOC with purchase of XPro1, T1 and XE2. And there is $100 cashback for XE2 as well.

Bro ,

That review/comparison is very outdated :) X-E2 had a firmware upgrade recently pushing up its performance all across , even down to EVF refresh rates.

Now it's essentially like asking yourself will u want the EM1 or EP5. Similar performance but one is WR, SLR feel, grippy vs rangefinder feel. I tried all the fuji bodies for at least 2 weeks each except the X-A1 and my final choice is the X-E2.

Sony A6k is a good choice looking at the spec sheet but I've not properly shot a Sony recently so I shouldn't comment.

I'm sure u will sit down and think thru your needs and come to the right choice :)

Is the xe2 a plastic or metal alloy body?

Just curious in your decision for choosing the X-E2 over the X-T1? I was contemplating between these 2 awhile back, but decided to go for X100S in the end due to the fixed lens (resist my temptations to buy and buy lens).

Mm.. Let me try to answer the questions but I'm really still relatively new to fuji.

X-E2 body: magnesium alloy for top and front plates, metal dials, plastics for body and dials.

EVF: X-T1 has 2.36m dots, 0.77x magnification. X-E2 had 2.36m dots , 0.64x magnification with the T1 boasting higher refresh rates of 54 frames/s vs X-E2's 50 frames/s.

LCD: same specs, size, T1 has a articulating one.

Ok, those are specs which u can google to verify too.

I chose the X-E2 because I preferred the rangefinder handling it gives. I use primarily primes & will much prefer a smaller package. I'm spoiled by Olympus's AF speed & accuracy and as such I end up doing most of my shots in MF on the Fuji too, finding the VF more than enough for me doing MF.

I also use the digital split focusing tool on the X100s too for MF & it's great once u get used to it. My feel is u won't go wrong with either one once u know what r your needs. ( I've friends who chose the T1 solely based on it has more fn buttons and friend who skipped the T1 solely based on D pad button feel so it's really personal)

Yes sometimes a non-ILC will "help" you not to buy lens but put it another way, you may feel dissatisfied with the limitations that you can't change lens. So if really want to buy a non-ILC that doesn't restrict you so much, Sony RX10 might be the only choice (but cost a bomb). I bought the Sony RX100 (original one) thinking like you (just have a high quality PNS) but in the end I was not happy to be restricted by the camera.

Maybe that's why there are a few T1s now selling in BNS (but interestingly no XE2).

yeah... i confess, i failed miserably to buy a X-E2 body off BnS (zero offers to sell to me and if u know me, i don't ever lowball) , now i started a new trend. co-buy X-E2 kit and person takes both lenses at $600 ^___^ , body + batt + half case will go for $1069 which is a damn good price considering used ones go for $850-$900.

But I would want the 18-55/2.8-4.0 lens and the 50-230 lens won't be worth much as it is the XC version. So your method won't work for me.

By the way, please ignore my PM about X-M1.
