X-T1

Hi , I've the EM1 and XT1 and i have used the EM5 and XE2 before this.

XT1 vs XE2 first: XT1 is faster, especially on the primes. It's noticeably. Using the 18-55 and 27/2.8 seems to be the fastest on both bodies in AF.

Now XT1 vs EM1:

AF speed: EM1 has the edge but this is dependent on lens too.
AF accuracy : EM1 has the edge.

But remember EM1 is the top tier model from a very mature MFT , compared to the X-Trans series I still see as relatively young.

That is not to say XT1 is slow or mis-focus often. Even when doing street with the XE2 and 35/1.4 I don't get much missed shots but if u compare the EM1 + 25/1.8 vs the XE2 + 35/1.4 of course EM1 will be significantly faster for the same FL.

Using the EM1 , 12-40/2.8 Is a wonderful combination but I can't compare this to Fuji as Fuji hasn't release their 16-55/2.8 yet.

I'll instead say it as these 2 are different beasts. Most users probably feel this way as the XT1 or XE series needs more training in using them to get used to the Fuji system quirks.

Both systems will be able to give anyone what they want , Olympus for the Oly colors and the high end performance / stability everyone now looks up to it for; Fuji for the Fuji film-like colors and the good glass everyone loves it for.

Other brands better start catching up in the Mirrorless arena. :) for example I'm not even interested in the RX Mark III when looking at the specs it's supposed to be a killer.

Sorry if I sound a bit negative...
I tend to get a lot of mis focus with xe2 + 23/1.4 when shooting at medium to long distance, especially when there's back light at night time, I never get very bothered by the oly set up in similar environment (em5 with 17/1.8). With fuji it's really difficult to judge sometimes, as Fuji will show you the green AF confirmation even when it's not in focus. It's quite annoying when doing street shooting, as you don't always have the time to zoom in in play back and check and retake. I was a bit disappointed since by right fuji should have the upper hand at night, but the AF really negates quite a bit of the advantage.

Na, apologise for what. No need :)

I understand what u r going thru, I had jumped over to the X100s from MFT and trust me it got to a point I was taking multiple shots of the same thing to maximize no of focused shots (desperate ? yes haha) so I guess the X100s had prepared me more than enough for the X-mount quirks.

Yes that's the same reason that made me give up the Fuji system after trying the X100S and X-Pro1.

Between the E-M1 and the X-T1, I'm thinking there's not much to separate between the two in terms of IQ and there's little point having both.

A full-frame alternative might be a better foil to the E-M1/X-T1, perhaps the A7.

Seriously i don't expect current Fuji camera to perform as well as other brands. From their first model X100 till now we seen so much improvement. Of cos its still not there yet as compare to like Sony A6000 fast AF but like what others says what Fuji offers are nice color and user experience. If AF is so important then DSLR is still the way to go.

The funny thing is A7r users like me bought the body only. And we don't have any lens to use. But when Sony launch the lens i was like so how come the lens so "big" in size and performance so so only and keep asking myself when is the wide lens coming???

A7 ... I won't.

Well , buy body and then most people I see are using 3rd party lenses for one thing. But Honestly this is still fine, but the FE glass really don't interest me at all other than the FE55.

Second thing is that I will prefer to support a brand that rewards loyal customers , not one that throws out a new model within a year.

2 questions I asked myself :
1. If A7 wasn't full frame would I consider it ?
2. Do I need FF ?

:)

Same feeling here, sony has 2 different senor size (apsc n ff) in 2 different mounts (E n A),yet they have not built any of the 4 system well.

larger sensors generally demand larger lenses, that's what steered me from ff. Adapting has its own share of problems…not all the adpaters I tried has the precision I desired, even for expensive ones like voigtlander

Wait a minute... WHEN DID YOU GET THE X-T1?! LOL

;) Ah , I got caught !
Using it together with the 35/1.4 & 18-55 while the EM1 goes with the 12-40/2.8, 17/1.8 and the 42.5 mainly.

Hi guys,

I am hunting for another body aside from my M9. After some trying with A7 and X-T1, I really prefer the latter despite it is not FF. I likely to get 56 f1.2 together with X-T1 if I am getting. I understand that Fuji has a m mount adapter itself, but one of my lens is not listed in the Fuji m mount. Does it mean that I will need a 3rd party mount like Novoflex for X-T1?

Pls advice, thanks in advance.

Does anyone know where would be a good place to get a screen protector for the X-T1 LCD?

If you don't mind to order online, I would suggest Amazon or eBay for ExperShields brand or ACMAXX glass protector.

Locally, sometime the regular camera shops have compatible screen protectors for $5 to $10.
If you willing to spend, maybe can try Doml at Chinatown for Martin Fields brand at $25.

Unfortunately full frame cameras are the future for mirrorless and I think it's a matter of time before Fuji follows suit and goes full frame.

I don't think so :)

The XTrans sensors are unique and can hold their own against the standard large sized sensors.

My guess is Fuji will do a XTrans III able to rival what FF can do.

Going into FF is also a risky business with Fuji's current X mount still in the early stages of growth. Look at Sony's FE mount , how many users end up using their native lenses ?

hehe wa Keith, this must be your last piece of advise before wife going into labour!

Actually for Sony's FE mount, the native lenses are excellent, overpriced definitely but excellent. In fact all are complaining there are not enough native lenses at the moment.

The problem with the FE mount is with old RF lens designs that users are trying to adopt to the Sony FF cameras, where UWAs with last elements too near to the sensor plane are causing problems with edges and color casting.

So if Fuji is willing to make enough native FF lenses fast enough, they will not face the same problems sony users are complaining about.

The FE55 is one lens I really like :)

For Fuji , I'm just eagerly awaiting them to release the 16mm , 16-55/2.8 first haha.

I certainly hope not as I'm hoping to be an X-T1 owner real soon!

Anyway I think it's too early to judge Sony's lens lineup now. When I was using Fuji mid last year, their lens lineup was scant too and they didn't have the 23mm lens which I really wanted (and made me sell my X-Pro 1), which they do now.
