X-T1

The 10-24mm is not very large on the X-T1, relatively speaking. The proportions are similar to most 35mm ultra wide angle lenses on a DSLR. Don't forget, this things goes to 10mm, which is equivalent to 15mm in 35mm terms.

Managed to get some quotes from some shops in Queensbay Mall when I was in penang last weekend, just to share with you guys.

Shop A (This shop showed me the worldwide warranty card, and he said most fujifilm stuffs should be international warranty)
23mm : RM2230
Body : RM3730
Body+Kit : RM4835

Shop B (This shop said it's only local warranty... kind of confused =.=)
23mm : RM2100!!!!
Body : RM3700
Body+Kit: RM4800
56mm : RM3300

I havent been much updated lately on the price in sg, but... the price is just sooooooooooo TEMPTING!!!

Warranty card from Fuji Malaysia is international warranty.
From my survey so far, only the XT-1 body / with kit lens is worth getting.
The 56 and 10-24 are not much different than SG pricing.
There's a shop in Penang that sell the 56 at RM2.8k.

So basically it's still international warranty?

Is the 23mm not worth? I think local price is around 1200sgd right?
Well I know these aren't going to be the lowest price, as I just simply ask from the shop I passed by.
My plan is to get the body + 23mm first, then slowly pick up the 56mm and then 14mm or the UWA zoom.

Do you mind sharing the shop info where the 56mm is sold? Maybe pm me? Many thanks!

Just to share with you guys about international warranty issues. This is what Fujifilm said when I emailed to ask them about warranty from Japan.

" Hi,

Fujifilm digital camera comes with worldwide repair programe, but the camera purchase must be from authorized dealer that recognize by local Fujifilm office.

For your case, the camera purchased from Japan, when you send in for repair, we will verify your purchase with Japan Fujifilm office, if they validate your purchase then we are able to proceed the repair as warranty cover.

Thank you.

So I guess if you bought the camera from an authorized retailer in that country. Warranty should be more or less covered. But don't quote me on this, I guess if you have any enquires, can just email them. They reply quite promptly. (:

Basically, it is still international warranty, provided you purchased from the authorized dealer at the home country.
For my case, the X-T1 comes with Fuji MY warranty card which stated clearly that it is international warranty.

As for the lenses, I think only the 56 and 10-24 are comparable to SG prices.
For the older lenses, like the 23, 55-200, MY prices are much cheaper, so if they quoted you RM2.3k for the 23mm, definitely worth to get them in MY as local pricing is still S$1.2k.

I can't remember the shop in Penang that sell the 56mm for RM2.8k, but I know they also sell folded/mountain bikes.

Actually the key is ensuring you have bought from a authorized Fujifilm dealer :)

Resellers probably won't qualify for the warranty as Fuji SG will simply cross reference with their Malaysian authorized dealers list when checking warranty validity.

hmm... kind of understand how the warranty works, as long as I get it from an authorized dealer, there should be no problem.

I will look into the shop that sell fold/mountain bike + camera hehehe...

Thank you guys for the infos

planning to get a set from Pasar Mini Ku.
Are they the authorised dealer? or as long is international warranty card, it should be safe
Latest quote from them is 4.8k rm for kit. for 16GB card & vanguard bag.

I'm currently an EM1 user and I have a love-hate relationship with Fuji. Love the IQ but hate the AF. Previously owned the X100S and X-Pro1 but sold both as the AF performance was sorely lacking compared to M4/3 cameras.

Can I check if the AF performance of the X-T1 is much improved? Or is it still hit and miss especially in low-light? Online reviews are a mixed bag.

I'm using both the E-M1 and X-T1. Yes, there is an improvement in AF but not spectacular as what Fuji claimed especially in low light. The evf gets very noisy as well in dark.

Not as good as Oly for sure. I'm using em5 n XE2 with latest firmware, the xe2 often misfocus, even with 18-55 which is supposed to be very good in AF in fuji lineup. XT1 should share a similar AF system with Xe2

Hi , I've the EM1 and XT1 and i have used the EM5 and XE2 before this.

XT1 vs XE2 first: XT1 is faster, especially on the primes. It's noticeably. Using the 18-55 and 27/2.8 seems to be the fastest on both bodies in AF.

Now XT1 vs EM1:

AF speed: EM1 has the edge but this is dependent on lens too.
AF accuracy : EM1 has the edge.

But remember EM1 is the top tier model from a very mature MFT , compared to the X-Trans series I still see as relatively young.

That is not to say XT1 is slow or mis-focus often. Even when doing street with the XE2 and 35/1.4 I don't get much missed shots but if u compare the EM1 + 25/1.8 vs the XE2 + 35/1.4 of course EM1 will be significantly faster for the same FL.

Using the EM1 , 12-40/2.8 Is a wonderful combination but I can't compare this to Fuji as Fuji hasn't release their 16-55/2.8 yet.

I'll instead say it as these 2 are different beasts. Most users probably feel this way as the XT1 or XE series needs more training in using them to get used to the Fuji system quirks.

Both systems will be able to give anyone what they want , Olympus for the Oly colors and the high end performance / stability everyone now looks up to it for; Fuji for the Fuji film-like colors and the good glass everyone loves it for.

Other brands better start catching up in the Mirrorless arena. :) for example I'm not even interested in the RX Mark III when looking at the specs it's supposed to be a killer.
