Ya quite possible that he really saw it but he could have got someone into trouble by mentioning here. Did he mention 23 or 56mm? But both definitely not kit lens. Too expensive and they are not weather shield.

dun need big sensor, the image quality from Fuji XE1 alone is already Full Frame standard.
