Bronica's company's founder Zenzaburō Yoshino, wherefrom the latinized Zenza Bronica brand name is derived, was the third son born into a Japanese rice merchant family.[1] At an early age Yoshino showed deep reverence for the technical innovation and mechanics of world-renown cameras produced by the likes of Leica, Contax and Rollei.
Both fascinated and yet increasingly frustrated by the limitations of the cameras produced at that time period, where each camera's merits and demerits were not solved by just one camera, Yoshino visioned creating a high precision interchangeable single-lens reflex camera modular system of his own design.
Bronica SQ-Ai kit will look remarkably similar to a Hasselblad, which was probably no accident, functionally and aesthetically. The Bronica SQ-Ai, more so then the other bodies in the Bronica lineup, can be thought of as a Japanese Hasselblad.
The SQ-Ai is the most advance of the series and at almost half the price of Hasselblad, the quality is of the system is definitely comparable!
What you will get for this price for a Hasselblad is probably the basic kit, with 1 film back.
But for a Bronica, you get a full set.
