purchased in US about 4 years ago, but has not seen much use as my shooting style changed to use more primes. (HAND carried back)
designed for crop sensor cameras (300-500d/10-60d,etc.), equivalent focal length to 28-55mm on full frame. excellent for street shooting. UNLIKE EF-S lenses, this CAN be used on full frame, if you wish, as an ULTRA-WIDE angle lens.
lens is relatively fast at f2.8 at the wide end, pretty light and easy to carry. personally i find it much sharper than the standard canon kit lens, although you do sacrifice some 'reach' for that capability.
