Leica chose its first prime lens for the T mirrorless camera system wisely. The Leica Summicron-T 23mm f/2 ASPH. (USD$1,850) matches the field of view and light gathering capability of the quintessential Leica optic, the 35mm Summicron that has adorned many of its full-frame digital and 35mm rangefinder cameras. This new Summicron is an autofocus lens that covers a smaller APS-C image sensor, but it's quite compact and can focus closer than its M-mount cousins. And, while it doesn't deliver quite the impeccable performance that its price would dictate, it's a solid prime lens option for the T system, and one that does a better job capturing images with a shallow depth of field than the Vario-Elmar-T 18-56mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom that is also available for the T.
HANDLING AND OPERATION
The ideal focal length and aperture for reportage photography the 23mm Summicron ASPH is the equivalent of your classic 35mm lens. The 23mm lens perfectly compliments the Leica T due to its size. The Leica T become agile and inconspicuous when combined with the 23mm. Like all Summicron lenses the F/2 aperture gives images a three-dimensional look when the subject is separated from its background.

Engineered by only the best optical engineering you will find that the T lenses bring the same vibrant colors, sharp and clear details, and fantastic overall contrast. The 23mm features Aspheric lens which corrects for aberrations, giving images the most clarity, and detail possible. Featuring an autofocus motor, the 23mm insures that you get those hard to focus shots.
FIT AND FINISH
The 23mm weighs in at a mere 153g grams, and is only 1.5 inches long. A black anodized finish protects the outside of the lens from scratches, and abrasions. Included with this lens is a lens hood, lens cap.
