I know. From past observations, Sony should be advertising in the next 1 or 2 weeks since all the major brands has already did so... Could the rest please pte msg your hp no so we could sms? It's hard to coordinate over the internet via pm.

They will be giving out 256mb MS with every W5/7 bought... Just need to bring down receipt to any Sony Gallery ie Bugis to redeem....
Price list last checked in April. (Reconfirming again)

Wah! This time round only 256MB MS Pro?! No pouch and extra batteries?!
Like dat the offer not as attractive as last time leh. Wondering what will the PC Show be offering. Normally the outside shops will try to match it.
With MO, maybe we can get the W5 at $500?!

As an alternative since the Sony Mid-Year Promotion is till end-July, let's see what's this PC Show got to offer first.
Think this time round Sony got a better deal with the 2 years extension as compared to other brands...
Let's wait and see.
$500 is a bit hard to get with the photo dealers... they all quoted the last time $499/$500 exclude GST.....

Additional batts do not cost much. But you are likely to buy a set of Sanyo quick charge charger and batt. Pouch i am using a brand call yellow moon from cathay photo.

I dun think I will pay $599 and just fall for the pouch and extra batteries....
$515 nett for the Sony DSC W5 pick up at Alan Photo at Funan/SLS is convenient....
Besides, 256mb MS may not be much but it's free. You could top up for another 2 more years of peace.
Most probably I will get it next week.
What do you guys think?

Sounds good. A 256 card can take approx 97 pics at 5M fine resolution and approx 185 at 5M standard resolution. More than enough for a average user i guess. Plus, got 32mb onboard as back up.
There is a hidden cost in batts and chargers. The supplied charger most likely cannot make it. And only 1 set of batts. (I guess its the same 1 as W1) Buy a Sanyo quick charge charger and 2500mah batts.

Hi, so far cciRRus has gotten back to me. Most prob we will be getting sometime next week with the PC show as a benchmark. I have already gotten a special price for 1gb Memory Stick Pro.
Personally, i would appreciate the guys in the list to be more responsive and be responsible... Tho play silent game. Can be deafening....

Its not about the batts. Sony batts are great. It is all about the charger. If i am not wrong the charger supplied is not the quick charge type. Will take approx 2-4 hours to charge batts. If you are the patient type, then it is fine. If you want a faster charge, then i think the Sanyo chargers are better and cheaper.

Please note the MO for Sony DSC W5 closes on 3rd June 2005. Some of us will be visiting the PC Show on the 2nd.
Just a note (Based on queries with Sony Square@ Funan, and Sony Singapore tel. customer service).
1) Batteries supplied with this set is Sony 2100.
2) Optional 2 years warranty Standard - Includes Parts & Labour
3) Extension of Warranty can be purchased online using your camera serial no. with credit card. No receipt issued (But can special request, they will mail to you). No statement issued. Only web-based will show when your warranty expires. (Pay extra $65 more)
