Champange gold even better LOL. Then can hang camera around neck as jewellery. Mayebe even offer diamond-studed ones. While we are at it, a pink and purple one might sell as well.

I'm sure someone in the US will spray paint your camera to any colour you like for a fee.

Seriously - Stick to black - black is good.
You know, Minolta has champange gold-ish cameras for their consumer level film SLR, and I've got a champange gold-ish lens...

On the general side, think most of these are plastic bodies, the manufacturers are trying to make those who paid more for the black metal bodies feels better...

i think Wai is right. there are markets for black and there are markets for other shades out there definitely. without demand, there will not be supply, then again vice versa (market creation).

thinking back though, how many DSLRs can be had in lesser shades?..in compared to P&S?..AGAIN, look vice versa. would we be seeing a Baby Blue D70 or a Dolphin Pink 350D soon?

Market research? Yes
Market segmentation? Yes
Market segment characterisation?....YES, SALES!

One of my wish list to Nikon would be a DSLR which looks much like the twin coloured FM3 bodied SLR. Of course the silver part has to be in metal as opposed to the tacky looking plastic.

Completely silver? Not on a DSLR, this driven by my personal preference I guess & brain washed from all the years of association with my dad's film equipment. I think the newer generation is more akin to the bling-bling stuff. Silver always has connotations 'gadget' (no pun intended).

for the engraving services i tink its 38 per item... buten i tink dslr need more $$$...dunno if they can do it...

when i get my ELECTRO blue d70 .... i will post here for u all to see.... haha...... IF it can be done.....

if now i will juz do my hp ahah...

Be it black or silver. It will be cool if Nikon can produce a DSLR based on the F2 or FM bodies, in the manner similar to Leica's DG-2. The nikon 35-TI should have a digital reincarnation too. The old school look rocks. ;)

Silver or light colored objects (even white) look like some fragile toy.

No. Cameras just don't go with 'Silver'.

the silver-chrome looks is OK for compact. i like how my Coolpix 3700 looks... brush aluminium... sweeet!

i like my D70 in army camo green...

If its compact go for the silver ones. Those brushed metal silver are fantastic.

For SLR or DSLR or for those who wants to do some serious photography. Go for the black ones. My first SLR was a Canon AE-1 Program where the top part of the camera body is silver. I have problems when taking photos of fishes in aquarium. I end up seeing the silver reflection of the camera in all my shots.
