true......and it will be tough for a replacement photographer coz he does not know what has been agreed on, etc.....

even the option of escrow services is a bit tough to implement unless you are collecting via internet or the clients are willing to come to the WPAS HQ.....

What the association intended was to provide the 'last line of defence'. Normally photogs already have their partners/friends as standby, however it's observed that such informal groupings are firstly small in number and thus the 'backup' might be unavailable on occasions such as 'hot dates' as well...

WPAS is in a way 'formalising' such arrangement by providing a service in pooling resources against risks. This also relief the photog the extra burden of having to make seperate arrangements for every assigment.

The backup photog is envisaged to only provide coverage. The photos taken will still be given to the actual photog to follow up and fufill his/her contract and deliverables.

I'm wondering who should pay for this thing - It doesn't seem quite good PR if you tell your client "Hey, you want to buy insurance in case I can't turn up?". Sounds strange.

Maybe instead of paying, its more a photographer help each other kind of thing. Rather than the customer paying to insure against the loss.

One of the many issues argued over numerous times amongst us. Who's paying for lunch?
It’s kinda like buying an appliance from Best Denki, extras for extended warranty. A buyer can have that extra assurance, peace of mind for an additional fee.

Other approach is co-op, a fee based system to back up each other. The photogs must chip in to share the costs too. Someone must man the hotline and activate a replacement if needed. On a Sunday morning at 7AM:sweat:.

It would be nice if the buyers have these concerns and are willing to pay for the extra assurance. Or the photogs would be a couple of percent poorer.:bsmilie:
