Worth to fix or buy a used one?

I have a MiniDv camcorder (JVC GR DVP 3A-SL). The tape load mechanism has failed after a drop and the LCD will no longer work due to repetitive opening and closing. Just two quick questions:
1. Where can I get it fixed?
2. Should i get a cheap/used miniDv camcorder instead to record my tapes to the computer for archiving/editing?
