Worst Airshow I have been!

I agree with u on the ugly side of SG folks but this is a $20 paid event no excuse for the poor planning which leads to the rowdy behaviour, i am sure if its plan well no flies can slip pass the cordon. I personally wasted $20 just watching black knights aerial display on the bus. The field is so big at the boarding area they should have put up a big tentage and just queue there more manageable instead of letting us and those inconsiderate people exercise our 'creativity'. Police and marshals are introduce for a purpose not for show, i don't really see them doing much except stand there with the crowd. If they can't even control an unarm mob how they can control a horde of demonstartors arming with bottles and stones?
Its more like a human problem. Everyone wants to be first, everyone wants to go there first. First-first-first. End up everyone jumps the queue simply because they had 'paid $20'.

Anyway, bad analogy on that.

This isn't classified as an 'unarmed mob' more like an unruly queue. And assuming if there ARE hordes of demonstrators, more likely than not, riot police will brandish truncheons, tear gas, rubber and/or even real bullets and start shooting at any moving objects at random and there would be no repercussions since we'll all be declared State of Emergency if there are demonstrations anyway.

U want that? :dunno:

they should have stuck to the Asian Aerospace brand name.. AA organisers were a lot more organised.

I wonder if previous Airshows were as crowded, and yet better organised???? If the crowd was about the same and yet the human traffic flow was better previously, it is the organisation that did a bad planning this time.......

for some reason, sg ditched the Asian Aerospace name to come up with our own Sg Airshow. I just felt the show was less attractive this time. With experience, things might get better.. but I wonder if exhibitors will still come.

I guess we'll have to give the organisers a bit of slack. This is the first show at a brand new

no it was not. the old site was a lot better. Dont blame the site, blame the organisers!

i was the luckier ones, from jurong all the way cab pick a friend from telok blangah crescent then all the way there. Well spent $35 if you ask me and no ticket checked for me either.

crowded or not is not of waht the organiser's concern, public visits do not generate revenue. Think of it, Asian Aerospace when in Singapore generated 15 billion in 2006 (http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_kmafp/is_200602/ai_n16090805), our very own Airshow 08? 13 billion (http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/20080223/bs_afp/singaporeaerospaceaviation_080223061346), go figure. Sales of tickets generated what? After Sat, words must have spread and i cannot imagine how the crowd on Sunday were!

wrong comparison, unless percentage of deals made at the airshow contribute to the organiser's income. The figures only show the amount of deals that were made

.....
This ah beng looking teenager stood right next to me when I had already queued for over 1 1/2 hours. Looking at him smsing while pretending nothing was wrong, I asked him if he was attending the airshow. He replied yes and I told him the queue starts from way behind and he has to go queue up. He acted as if he couldn't hear me. Then I told him if he is not going to do so, I will get the security personnal to remove him. He then procede to mumble some nasty things and then challanged me to do so. This bugger then procede to jump queue a few more times till he was 20m in front of me. I kept me anger in check, waited and waited till the SOC guys were in sight. Then I procede to inform them what happened and that I was "challenged" to report him. Guess what.. they went up to him & removed him!
.....

well done

u got your point, yes maybe unarm mob too extreme a word but $20 is not a small sum of money, i still feel very frustrated for the whole period from queueing to boarding to reaching the site its just so damn hot, angry and tired and i thought 2+ hours before the aerial show is enough which is more than enough for the previous show and thinking of the 'journey' back really upset me even more.

i bet he is smsing his friend telling them come join this queue he just 'cut' into. Queue cutting also not limited to ah bengs lol even whole family like 4-6 people also just cut into the queue, this is what i saw during saturday. I wonder what their children will think :dunno:

I did not see any SOC guys when in was queuing on saturday. did no see any of them except at the boarding area scanning tickets. i had very bad experience in the queue... below copied from my another post under exhibitions and events.

when i was queuing at pasir ris saturday morning, a middle age couple cut the queue behind me. i was there patiently reading newspaper and moving with the queue unhappily already. i turned back and asked them why cutting queue. the uncle told me they were in the queue before that, they just went to buy something then came back. i don't believe him. normally you would left one person in the long queue right? but what can i do? the event organizer did not do anything anyway...

abt ten minutes later the queue was broken, a group of youngsters in front of me turned to the other side (which apparently a wrong direction), i only found out 1~2 mins later, tried to go back to the queue and a lady thought i was cutting queue, almost wanted to quarrel with me, she kept saying "shame on you" at least 2 times, and told her little son it's a shame cutting queue....

i was so angry, but what can i do?

we came early, took the bus from pasir ris. the crowd was building up very fast but we manage to get in 1 hour before the black nights did their stunts.
going back, I saw the mad crowd. the bridge was packed with 2 crowd merging, one going out, another going in. The are crowd going in from a wrong direction, but nobody seems to stop them. the organiser allow alternative route for crowds to leave because the bridge going over the canal was jam packed. I dont want to go there skali the bridge collapsed, so walk along the canal (alternative route), cross another bridge (at the main road) then walk in again to get the bus.
They should have expected a large crowd and should manage this properly. More shelter should be provided. With the large crowd and the heat, it is amazing there is no casualty.

Bottomline, they didn't care about Joe Ah Seng.

because Joe Ah Seng cannot afford to buy planes :bsmilie:

you'll be treated differently if you are there to buy a private jet or sign on some dotted lines to a contract that's worth millions.

i explained, she said "ya ya you queue for long time..." something like that, very sarcastic, that's why i was so angry...

Speaking of private jets, did anyone linger in the Falcon? It was a cool respite from the heat. :bsmilie:
