Working for documentary

Hi,
this is my first post. I hope somebody will spend some time to reply.

I'm a young videomaker and a photographer. I love documentaries and I'd really like to work in a production.
My goal is to make practise, so it wouldn't be a problem for me to start as a volunteer.

Any ideas/sites/contacts to get in touch with documentary productions?
