Anyone has the following experience with Windows Movie Maker? Once I import a high resolution photo into the storyboard, it will appear blurry both in the preview and the output (using AVI output). I tried another software called VideoSpin and it gives me the same problem. Anyone can enlighten me what is going on? Thanks.

Sounds like the picture is being resized to the project resolution. This is quite normal in video editor programs. You can get better results if you resize the picture in Photoshop, cos it uses better scaling alogithms. But of course it will never be as sharp as the high def original.

BTW, if you want to zoom in on the picture and pan it around, Sony Vegas will let you do that without losing resolution, using the Pan/Crop function. Other programs like Movie Maker will resize the picture before you zoom in, so all the resolution is gone.

Thanks, bro. I am looking for a free software to do the job as it will just for personal viewing. Windows movie maker meets my needs for video editing but was quite disappointed with how it handles still photos. :(

Are you zooming in on the pictures? If not, you can use The Gimp to do the resizing before you import into MM. Gimp is free but good quality.

I do have photoshop to do the resizing but just find it troublesome to use another utility to do it. :bsmilie:

Well you could try it with one picture and see how much difference it makes. Then you can decide if it's worth the additional effort and hassle.
