Windows 8 - who needs silly big tiles on the screen?

Read in today's DL that this Win8 is merely the Win7 with a shell/mask that enables you to do those touch screen stuff.

Maybe, MS has added some other bells and whistles here and there. Finally, not sure if it is really worth the effort to upgrade to it from XP. Afterall, my Thinkpad T400 has got quite an ancient processor, the P8600.

Honesly, if I am the CEO...I would do the same thing if not...with the saturated market....how to show the board of the positive sales graph trend? :embrass:

Something to save the lives of Windows 8 users. Oh, it is not freeware ($5). But never mind, the idea is there and soon there will be lots of freeware utilities written to resolve this issue.

What’s Missing From Windows 8?

I ran the windows 8 preview for about twenty minutes and it is so hideously plain and angular and just awkward to navigate around that i immediately dumped it. Chris, your comment that “I don’t want that future of computing where a big corporation tells me what i can and can’t run on my own system” is exactly why i have moved across exclusively to Linux. I now get to choose my OS and to choose what software to put on it. I also get to choose my desktop. It seems from the reviews of Windows 8 that increasingly that’s not going to be an option.

MS comes in somewhat too late and does too little. Just trying to play catch up with ipad and Google.

Guys, some feedback on using Windows 8. Simply loving it. Lucky, the learning curve is very short for me.

Someone's opinion for those who have old PCs or who still like XP/XP Pro OS; and who do not want to own a touch screen PC.

Here's Why You Shouldn't Upgrade Your Old PC To Windows 8 - Business Insider

Windows 8 review: Good for tablets, not for PCs

Troy Wolverton:
"Take the idea of viewing multiple applications on your screen, a core feature of Windows since even before Windows 95. You can't do it in the Metro interface. Oh, sure, you can split the screen between two — and only two — open applications. But this feature, called Snap, is all but worthless."
