Windows 7

been checking out the specs of dell lappies online.... i noticed a new processor i7...is that supposed to be the tri-core or quad core?

seems like they gonna pre-install their wares with win7 in time to come...good news for me. Haha
is alienware any good? kind of pricey. :sweatsm:

u remember the days of pentium 4 hyper-threading?

basically core i7 is just a quad core with hyper-threading... to fool the operating system to believe there are 8 processors when in actual there are only 4. well, its supposed to function faster and better..

alienware are not good, they are just SUPER DUPER UBER ULTRA GOOD! alienware specialise in the configuration of SUPER DUPER UBER ULTRA high end desktops and notebooks for gaming purposes.

If u can afford these alienwares... well, u wont regret, at least for the next 1 to 2 yrs.

What's wrong with Vista? I've been using it for 1.5 year+ and have no issues. Why is everyone thinking it sucks so much? :D

I couldn't find any compelling reason to upgrade my Windows XP to Vista :bsmilie:

Think most of the PC world felt the same way. :) Win7 does seem like it's worth upgrading to.

It's like you are driving a fast car...0~100km/h in 10s.....and why would one want to add extra 300KG in the car to make it go 0~100km/h in 15s :dunno:

Actually, Vista is good but I find it resource hungry. XP will be faster if its run on the same PC. I'm no expert but I think Win 7 is suppose to be faster than Vista.

I have merged other Win 7 discussions with this thread, easier for reference. Oh ts, i added a "s" in your thread title, hope you don't mind. :sweatsm:

No choice for me when I bought my laptop, unless I wanted to pay more for XP;
So I got it default with Vista :D

This thread is for those who wants to understand more about Windows 7.

BTW, is it possible to help me to change the title for another thread? I had made a spelling mistake on the product. :embrass:. If okie, I will PM you the details.

Windows 7 is so much better than Vista. ;)

Though there are times whereby the differences are hardly noticeable unless one looks at figures.

Was browsing the Windows 7 features and saw a cool touch screen feature, damn cool... aiyah my XPS 435T Studio does not support the touch screen feature.

I had Vista on my new machine for less than a week, then 'upgraded' to XP. Totally love the improvement in performance. That was about one and a half years ago. ;)

Time for a new machine? ;)

hmmm... i've been using the Windows 7 Enterprise evaluation copy and i find it much better than Vista. i'm also thinking of getting a notebook.

currently, the MacBook Pros are cheap (refurbished ones of course)... can Windows 7 run on the MacBook Pro? is it advisable to completely remove OS X and run purely on Windows 7?

It's always good to have 2 operating systems on a machine, just in case one goes bad.

Win 7 got 2 version, 32bit and 64bit. Do remember to check which version you are getting. Most important thing was, which version of softwares you are using now. If all your software is a 32bit type, go for 32bit Win7. And lastly, 32 bit version win7 can detect more that 3G RAm lao, so no issue if you want to upgrade more rams but there is always a CAP for 32bit version. If you are going for 64Bit win7, remember to max out the RAm for that extra juice .. lolx
