Window 8

not unexpected.

windows 7 is decent bah. i miss the tweakability of xp though. vista was fail. i hope 8 can better xp at the tweaks, and provide user friendliness comparable to 7.

Then why not run Linux-based OS?

It is way to early to speculate. This is still in the brain storming phase, M$ still have yet to even start writing the codes.

The "instant on" feature sounds great!

Heard about it since last September. Windows 8 will be cloud based. I think there will be a fundamental change to desktop OSes after Windows 7 and you can expect fewer updates of OSes in the future. I think MS will have to look for a new business model as desktop sales figure has been falling constantly. The next wave of OS should be light weight and simple like Apple iOS or Android. I mean who will ever buy a tablet PC install with full version of Windows OS?

i would. i would prefer a stable OS which i can tweak and play around, while not too extreme like linux. mac os and apple are overated, and apps stores arent the place i wanna get my apps either. i dun like cloud based computing. any information uploaded to google docs means that ur rights are gone liao. ppl tend to forgo their rights for ease, but i'll stick with my microsoft as these stuff matters to me.

I'm using XP, Vista & Win7..
I don't see much diff if you're not gaming.

Vista is a little slow when using Adobe softwares.. ;)

like it or not you have to accept it, ipad or similar devices (android/windows tablet or whatever) is changing the world of computing. cloud computing is the way to go, dude. eventually, desktop will become history and people will be carrying a touch screen type "computer" with them where ever they go. sit back and witness. ;)

you compared the boot up and shut down speed?

What is cloud computing?

Cloud Computing is Internet-based computing, whereby shared resources, software, and information are provided to computers and other devices on demand, like the electricity grid.

Cloud computing is a paradigm shift following the shift from mainframe to client–server in the early 1980s. Details are abstracted from the users, who no longer have need for expertise in, or control over, the technology infrastructure "in the cloud" that supports them.

Cloud Storage: Cloud Storage is a model of networked Computer data storage where data is stored on multiple virtual servers, generally hosted by third parties, rather than being hosted on dedicated servers.

Example: Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2), RackSpace Cloud etc
