William Kellie Smith and his Castle

Continuing from around my hometown in IR, this thread is for Kellie's Castle.

Kellie's Castle

Built by William Kellie Smith in 1915 for his wife and family, he died in Portugal in 1926 before the structure could be completed. The castle was then left in ruins until it was refurbished few years back. It's said to be haunted by Kellie's ghost and that it is also rumoured to have a lot of secret rooms and tunnels, even 1 tunnel leading to a Hindu Temple few hundred meters away. The Hindu Temple was built by Kellie himself and his statue of an British officer can still be seen on the temple walls.

Thanks bro! i also cannot explain why i like this kind of gothic / sombre / melancholic mood or feel to my pictures. everytime i process these photos i just tend to make it like that. Maybe due to my love of gothic / symphonic / power / dark metal music. :think: I was there in the middle of the afternoon so it was very hot and sunny. I think what ever ghost was there also go hiding already. haven't tried taking night photos there before but now under the new management, it will be closed at night. Last time when it was abandoned, you can go anytime you like

Somehow the photos appear with a more bluish tinge after i load them and now after i view them on my work desk :sweat: But when i was processing it i did not put too much blue tinge to the photos. dunno why. :dunno:

Hi KT1031. It's actually not too far from Ipoh. i would say er..30 minutes or so from Ipoh town centre. This castle is actually very near Clear water Sanctuary golf resort. To get to the castle from Ipoh, drive along the road from ipoh that will take you to the North-South Highway (NSH) (old name is Kampar road but dunno the new name. along this road, you'll pass by Sam Poh tong Cave Temple on your left and hillcity hotel on your right. you won't miss it). When you reach the Simpang pulai Entrance to the NSH, do not enter enter continue down the road. You'll pass by some old shophouses along that very road. Go further straight on heading towards the direction of Gopeng town and you should see a junction to your right with signs saying Batu Gajah / Kellies Castle / clearwater sanctuary. (this junction is way before Gopeng town). Take this junction and drive another 10 -15 minutes and you would see Kellies castle on your left. If you need more help, just let me know

I love goth feel.
I love metal music...hahaha....ok ok I am more to scandinavian metal.
Not to OT.. your series is awesome too..IR really have very interesting outcomes.
I would also love to go to that area and shoot some IR.

Hey bro, guess what???? I also absolutely LOVE METAL too! and ESPECIALLY SCANDINAVIAN METAL! wow! first time 1 met someone in SG that actually likes my same genre of music. I will OT and speak of metal for a bit. which subgenre you like? Suomi metal (e.g charon, sentenced, To/Die/For), Swedish Death Metal (e.g. Arch Enemy, At The Gates, Dark Tranquility), Symphonic Metal (e.g. Nightwish (old and new singers), Therion), Power Metal (e.g. Sonata Artica, hammerfall), Black (e.g. Dimmu Borgir, Mayhem), Gothic (e.g. Leaves eyes, Theatre Of Tragedy) etc?

I'm now stuck in Suomi, symphonic & power after being through the Black & Death phases (when i was younger and filled with anger). :devil:. I find these genres got feel & melodic. I like!

Started my obsession with this genre at 13 and will never stop ever.

ha! another brother in metal ! Nice vid by behemoth. i'm not sure how is nergal (the vocalist) is coping with his leukemia. :think:. But for black/death/grind personally i prefer old Carcass, cannibal corpse, napalm death and Terrorizer.

Can't wait for the maiden gig! it's starting at 8pm btw instead of 8.30pm.

Yeah for me I am opened to all genre of music but heavy guitars are for me more..
I mean I love alternative but nothing beats the double pedal and harmonising guitars of Soliwork, Inflames, Arch Enemy, Children Of Bodom..hahaha...we jialat la..we OT a lot ...

I also love instrumentalist like Steve Vai, Satriani
But I need my dosage of Soilwork a hell lot..hahaha plus Devin Townsend

Anyway yeah..I have Pen A tickets to Iron Maiden :devil:
I waited my life to go..I wanted to go for Deftones too but I've work and assignment due..:thumbsd:

Only pissed off with the way they treated us at Pen A. Was there so early and about 100 in the Qqqq..Ended up being like 300 over after the chaos..

Yeah....I was in a perpetual state of high the whole time n after the concert... I wasin front of the left speaker where Dave Murray is n after that my ears were ringing for 3 days, n I lost my voice for 2days... Neck pain, leg pain cos headbang n jumping... Damn shiok man!

If only they release a live DVD of that concert... Hehe...

I agree with u that the crowd control was sh1t n no order la... Maybe due to Lamc no experience with so big crowds...
