Will you sell any your lenses to get AFS 35mm f1.4G?

I shoot only primes and I have been using a setup of 24mm and 35mm, with the occasional use of the 50 and even more rarely, some kind of telephoto...

24 and 35 are very different focal lengths and gives different perspectives; there's no need to choose either/or

:thumbsup: Completely agree with you. The problem for me is that I am so so happy with my 35mm f/2 AI (which was like dirt cheap) and 50mm f/1.4 AIS (on FF). When the 35mm f/1.4 lands on our shores, will try it out, see how it sits on the camera for street photography, see how small it is, see its character and rendering and then consider buying - but unlikely to sell a lens that has served me so well

Note that the Samyang lenses are all manual focus devices.

I don't like G lens,I scare the lens motor spoilt.I prefer 35mm f1.4 AIS as d7000 can use and no motor to be spoilt. :bsmilie:

I am considering the 35f1.4 for work (weddings) but will probably still stick to my 35 f2 afd for street as it's much smaller and more discreet.

The new primes are unfortunately a little on the big and heavy side....

Btw which nikon body do u use for street? I'm having a tough time with the loud clacking of the d700 shutter on the streets..... Miss my rangefinders enough to consider going back to film just to use them for streets... Not looking forward to scanning though!!

Get an Olympus or Panasonic M4/3...Great for streets work! Its the most fun I've had with a Camera in Years! (I have the Oly e-pl1).

I'll consider the new Samyang 35mm F1.4...If their 14mm 2.8...85mm 1.4 and their 8mm fisheye are any indication...Its a good bet this new lens will give the Nikon a good run for a lot less investment!...

That is a tall order, because autofocus is crucial in many situations.

Of course, I understand that manual focus is applicable in certain instances, and that you may be engaged exclusively in such situations.

I have not used the Samyang lenses, and thus cannot comment on its image quality.

Actually, manual focus in most cases can be just as fast if not faster than AF ...Most of the Nikon bodies have the focus dot that lights up, so its really not a problem, and in low light street photography its usually faster to manually focus than to remain in auto (with your camera doing the hunt and peck back and forth)...The older Nikon ais lenses mentioned in this post are also manual focus, not to mention all the very expensive Zeiss glass that some folks buy for their Niks and Can's...Surprisingly, in the studio, AF is really not that critical as well...But to each his own...Don't get me wrong, I also own a full range of AF glass from 16 fisheye to the 300 f2.8... all Nikon... Just google the Samyang products or ck out DP review or several other web sites if you are curious about the quality of certain "pro" Samyang glass...you may become pleasantly surprised...

if anyone wants to dump their 35 1.4 ais for cheap im waiting =P. haha. other than that, this lens is way out of my budget. have the 35 f2 and 28 f2 pre ai that i got for a great deal and those work great for me. if anything, i ll grab a 85 1.4 before a 35 1.4

Yeah, but I hate holding out the camera at arm's length to use the LCD, and even if I prefocus and preset exposure and use an external viewfinder on the hotshoe, I would still occasionally want to precisely focus on someone or something, which would bring back the issue of holding out the camera at arm's length to use the LCD...........

But....... today I think the real "cheap" street camera of choice has been announced

I only need about 10 inches to see my viewfinder...In any case the Fuji looks way cool!
