Will you sell any your lenses to get AFS 35mm f1.4G?

New lenses are popping up like little piglets.. now, when will money fall from the sky?? :(

Soon we will have threads asking which lens to get? 24mm or 35mm? :D

Nope.. frankly speaking after getting the 24mm F1.4 and compare it with the sigma 30mm F1.4( i know not a fair comparison due to different focal Length).. i dun feel the extra $$$ over the sigma 30mm f1.4 is really worth it.. the HSM is faster then the AFS:confused:...only consolation is the wider focal and the nano coating.

For 35mm focal length there are more contenders like the 35mm F1.8 is a superb and cheap lens and the cheap FX 35mm F2.0.. and the gem Sigma 30mm F1.4.. For those shooting DX .. DX lens is cheaper and lighter.. unless really going into FX..;)

For me personally i only need the 24mm F1.4 and the 85mm F1.4 for FX walk about .. else it would be sigma 30mm F1.4 or the AFS 35mm F1.8 and perhaps the 50mm F1.4 or 85mm F1.8 as general walkabout.

some of us are using FX and the sigma 30 f1.4 is not an FX lens.

50mm and 35 1.4 renders image with a different quality due to the different optical design.. walking back or front doesn't change much of that actually.
Different lenses altogether.

having already owned 24 1.4, i would probably pass on 35 1.4
but would still like to own it if i have the spare cash.

=============

Same bro !!! But Ive ordered mine anyways.... hahaha :bsmilie:

Then no choice have to get fx f1.4 lens and is super expensive and heavy. For me I have both fx and dx bodies.. To most of us hobbyist dx is more then enough.

Based on my lovely lenses below - I'm considering selling either my 14-24 or 24-70.... thoughts bro's ? :dunno:

haha...... or just keep all and get a lighter wallet !!! :bsmilie: :bsmilie:

I will definitely sell my 24-70 and 50. Pick up 35 and maybe a 85D or 85G (depends on how much I have left in my wallet :p)

I think buy what u need and the setup that can adapt to ur style..

Aren't u compromised on the wide if u do that?

depend on ur shooting style

for me 100% NO regardless price is 500 or 5000
dun like prime len at all as I am lazy to chg len

:bsmilie:

It's bound to happen. If no one started it, I am sure I will :p

Choosing 24mm or 35mm is a good dilemma rather than having only 24mm to choose for, lol

I shoot only primes and I have been using a setup of 24mm and 35mm, with the occasional use of the 50 and even more rarely, some kind of telephoto...

24 and 35 are very different focal lengths and gives different perspectives; there's no need to choose either/or :)

If in a fullframe context and i can only choose one lens, it will be this 35mm f/1.4.

I will skip the 35mm f1.4 for now since i had the 24mm f1.4. if i need 35mm range, i use it on my DX body.

i will not, cos even if i sell all my 4 lenses....it's not enough to get the 35mm :bsmilie:

Same here! What I have is not enough to raise the cash!

The 35mm f1.8 is so cheap. If anyone decides to choose between the 35mm f1.8 or the 35mm f1.4, it will probably be:

1) FX or DX user
FX users may want to use a 35mm lens designed for FX body instead of the 35mm f/1.8 which was designed for DX.
2) Need for f1.4
For smooth bokeh lovers or for photographers who really need to shoot with a super fast lens.
3) Too much money to spend

I had a chance to use the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 and I loved the bokeh. The Sigma is so much cheaper to own and I wouldn't mind paying a premium of $200 for the 35mm f/1.4 from Nikon but not over $2k.
