If Olympus don't reuse the E-330 body, I may be stuck with teh E-330. I like the E-330's concept. Dark VF, Dual LV mode, Duel Flash capability and Extra patterns!!!!:bsmilie:

I am glad you are feeling a little better. But I really hope someone will help you sort this issue out. Have you contacted Hong Kong office about this yet?

Yes I have. No replies from them. :bheart: I have already given up hope on the solving the banding issue. A kind forumer have offered to swap his E-500 with me for it. So I would be using the E-500 for the time being. My lens investment is the only factor I have not jump the ship....thanks to the way the service is handled.

As someone mentioned, all they have to do would be to offer me a body swap, even if it means I top up a token sum, I would be a very happy user singing the praises all over the place. But by their non action, it really sadden me as a user.

I posted in a Malaysian forum on the quality of service of specific brands, you can really see why the leading brands where they are today. They are willing to bend backwards to assist a customer. All I can say is, Olympus have a long way to go.

Forget it. Let me attach the Oly Japan's reply.

Blu, I was planning to go to Small Claims Court as a last resort for my case. I was at a time almost convinced Olympus wouldn't budge until you throw a litigation at them. For now, I needn't go that path. Depends on whether you feel like letting go and 'forgiving' Olympus for short-changing you of the full worth of your E-330, or pursuing the matter further till the wrong has been righted. Being a 'rare case' as the Oly support would like to insist, may actually work in your favour to prove that indeed it's a problem.

It is sad to see this happening to the 4/3. Anyone who have read the above replies will most likely than not have second thoughts about buying a 4/3 system product. (Not many of us in here of course!) but I do hope Olympus can seriously rethink their position in this aspect. All talk about improvement is one thing... walk the walk Olympus. Walk the walk.

Sad but I have already sold the E-330..to add insult to injury, the buyer says the 10X magnification in Mode B is not working. Called Olympus, they say sorry, out of warranty...we will charge for repairs. :( What did they do to the camera when they "replace" the sensor?? The buyer says it's ok. Luckily the buyer says he can live without that feature. :( But I really feel sadden that an important feature being missing and I sold him a faulty camera. :(

All I can say is... "Well done, Oly Malaysia... well done". :(

With that, Do you think the current camera I own may be my last Oly??

Sad to see you leaving as Oly have much more better glass and the lens i cheaper.Oly Malaysia FTL!!

Hey Kid Shotter, I did not say I am leaving..only that this current camera would be my last Olympus

I am confused too... you mean you are investing into another system as well?

I may stay in 4/3 depending on what Panasonic have to offer in the future. As for Olympus, the current E-500 would most likely be my last.

The worst case scenario would be I move totally away from 4/3.

Blu, when i know about clubnap and focus my eyes on the olympus forum ( i like olympus but haven make up my mind to get it) i hv seen some of ur writings about the banding problems on E330. To say the truth, ur writings ready shaken my heart about the quality and servicing about Olympus. This is my first camera and first dSLR, i must chose wisely. But in the end, i chosen Olympus and took the olympus E1, cause it is my dream camera and i really cant take my eyes off the pics that zuiko lens have taken.

What i want to say is, you are a Good Olympian and you are really famous :bsmilie:
dont be down-hearted. We newbie need ur sharings and I have met even worse backup servicing from Hp, written 4 complaining letters....NO REPLY FROM THEM AT ALL!!

I'd write one more letter, to Olympus' Head Office Subject, "Why I won't buy another Olympus camera"...the blame should really go to your local service depot...in my part of the world there is nothing but praise for Olympus repairs.

Anyway, the E-330 was the first generation with the Panasonic MOS chip...the E-410 will be the third generation.

As for going to Panasonic, don't forget it was the Panasonic imager that was at the heart of your problem.

 (in)famous you mean. Service I experience is with Olympus service in Malaysia. This should not deter you from getting an Olympus if you are from an area where the service is handled in a better manner.

I have always sing praises for the colors and picture quality of an Olympus but if the service is going to foul it up big time, then this will be the Achilles heel of the company. All dSLR will require some some sort of service after purchase. Shutter have a lifespan, sensor requires cleaning, minor adjustments may be requires and for Olympus, the glue tape inside that catches the loose dust needs to be changed. All this are at the mercy of the service department. If this department is not up to mark, then how do you expect the camera to sell??

I was at C's service yesterday evening. Their operation hours are monday to fridays 8.15am to 8.00pm. They also have collection centers scattered all over the country. Where is Olympus on this aspect? Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.30pm and at Mount Kiara only.

Yes I know..that's why I mention also that the E-500 (it uses the old Kodak sensor) would most likely be my last Olympus. Strangely Panasonic seems to have managed to solve the problem with firmware updates..So did Leica. Why is Olympus still keeping quiet on it??
