Will wedding videographers go out of business ...

try telling the wedding couple that.

"but your camera can take videos wat, so please help us take, then no need to engage videographer"

than there are two things you can do:

1. don't tell them you use 5D MK2 and/or
2. charge them full rate for being the videographer as well, don't forget you have to edit the footage after the wedding.

I doubt many can hold a DSLR to shoot video event for a period of more than 10mins. Not to forget, you will still need your constant light source especially when you are filming under cover, unless the body is really light but anything more than 1000grams (Including lenses and light), you need very powerful muscles.

Most video camera (Except shoulder mount type) are design to be light and able to operate on 1 hand (Zoom, exposure).

my opinion is, no

cause when u take video u will miss the photo,
when u take photo u will miss the video.

so videographers should be there too.

I give the 5DMkII a couple hrs of play Yowsiang, Yang, Chris, Alex (Emotionpix)..... /whatever

And the XH-A1 to an amateur. /I'll throw in a video light and tripod as free gifts. :bsmilie:

Both shoots wedding. Make it a simple wedding with not a lot of guests/relatives to manage and no need to do whatever crap interviews.

Guess who will still be able to bring tears during an emotional moment in the end product?

You may be surprised to see what humble equipment they are using. (less Chris)

its a little absurd to even think of replacing real videography with video clips.
while you are video-ing, who's taking the pix?

definitely not a "value-added" service, more like, suicide + spoil market service.
even part-timers will not do it if they have foresight, let alone pros

A crucial part of good wedding video is the sound. i doubt the 5D2's mic can deliver the necc standard... and i doubt it comes with an jack for an external mike. (Does it?)

There is an external mike jack according to dpreview, here. But then, you probably need two hot shoe, one for flash, the other for mic.

since the entry level DSLR are so affordable and popular now, almost anyone can own one, will wedding photographers go out of business?

5DM2 can plug in external Mics for Stereo recording.

While videoing, when you see a moment, you can still press the shutter to capture that shot (At full 21Mpx) and then the camera will resume the video recording.

still means that the video will be 'interrupted' and jumpy...

so looks like no-go for 5D2 video :) more for fun than for serious videography. plus, which photographer has the time and hardware to do PP for videos?
