No doubt there are a lot of existing users that will not jump ship just because of the price. However, there are even more potential users that might choose an alternative product due to the price so Nikon and Canon will feel the price pressure and need to respond accordingly.
The A900 priced at US$3k is good for consumers since Nikon will have to drop their D700 price and that might be the reason why Canon is rumored to be coming out with 2 FF models to attack the different segments of the market.
