I used PnS camera CanonA75 in France at Mont Blanc, 3 years ago. Montain covered with ice. Temperature either zero or sub-zero. Took picture for 1 hr without problem.
You can also check the specification of the camera. My Canon 350D says operating temperature upto 0 deg C. Never tried in snow yet. Going Beijing in Dec07.
Regarding certain Olympus P&S can work at -10deg C. Must be true.
Recently two models were advertised in newspaper last week. Forgot the model number. But it ends with letters "SW". It advertised to work on extreme, at -10deg C and 15meter underwater. Again, to be safe, look for the specification in its manual.
