Gimme some time to compile first. Took almost 4GB of pictures! Some scenes were taken with different settings to "experiment", I'm still a newbie! :sweatsm:

I hold the Oly WCon 08 yesterday!!, it's BIG and GREAT!!! and not that expensive, half the price of that WCon 07 !!, but more weight for their smaller diameter  . Guys please show me the FZ5 photos with this monsta lens, pleeaassee......

WCON08 actually more solid than the WCON07 and probably has better optics.

Actually it is not the optics that is heavy,

i think wcon08 have 2 version one comes in 62mm and one comes in 55mm

i think the 62mm one have a metal body that why it is more heavy... i never used the 55 mm on before... cannot comment on it... maybe it is the metal body tat is heavier not the optics...

The 62mm one is WCON08B which cost much more higher.
Saw B&S got selling at $200 before.
Don't how the pic of the 62mm compare to 55mm..

The WCON-08B is one serious piece of glass. I have one, so I know... ;p

It is the only wide convertor which I will call PRO quality, like the TCON-14B teleconvertor. Sold my WCON-08 when I got my WCON-08B. It is so good that when you attach it to your camera, it does NOT reduce optical quality and there is NO light loss and also very very little C.A. if any. This is due to of its very good quality glass and special multi coating, just like the better SLR lenses.

Also, built quality is on a completely different level, fully metal and superb finishing.

But you will only want to use it with the FZ10/20, to big for the FZ1/3/5.

the distortion doesn't look too bad at all. and color rendition still looks good, looks like your WCON-07 is pretty good!

Colour retention with wcon07 is good... but the barrel distortion is quite bad if u compare to wcon08 on fz10 and 20... and ultimately it all depends on how the photo is being framed...

Looks like there isn't much distortion using the WCON07 on the FZ5. How much did you got it for?

He is from CS also.
Got a PM from him before when I was looking for the WCON08.
His sell price for the WCON08B min is $180.
I settle for a WCON08 instead for $90.

BTW, any pic quality diff between both 08 & 08B?

BIG difference. Gist of it is that with the 08B, picture quality is as though one is using a wide angle lens without any attachment for ALL factors such as vignetting, distortion, light loss, color, C.A., etc. I sold my WCON-08 and kept the WCON-08B, what do you think? :)

Read the review here

BTW, $180 for the WCON-08B is a decent price, they typically goes above $200 used and if you are to buy brand new from the states, they are >$400.

tao,

I've just got a new WCON08 for US$20 off ebay, and thought I got a good catch. Is the picture quality of the WCON08 very much inferior to the WCON08B?

super price, stick with your WCON08, the WCON08B is too BIG to work with your FZ5 anyway. :)

only for those using FZ10/20 with 62mm phayee adaptor.

There is no vignetting for the WCON08 on my FZ20 with a modded
62mm to 55mm step down ring, even with a UV filter on.
But for the distortion, light loss, color, C.A., etc, I not really sure for my
case as I still haven't use the Wcon yet..
So it should be ok for me as I bought it just in case I need it.

if only used occassionally, no need to get the WCON-08B lah. only for quality freaks like me. :bsmilie:
