Wide angl lens for Pentax (k-mount) - Irix Lens 15mm f/2.4 Firefly

Many thanks to the friendly Singapore distributor who brought the lens to Singapore, i manage to get my hand on a copy of the firefly at an attractive price

both firefly and the more expensive Blackstone are the same optically but Blackstone is WR and comes with a hard case pouch (firefly comes with a soft pouch)..from what i checked with the agent, only Blackstone is available now at $9xx but seems like they are planning to bring more firefly by end Nov so if you are interested, can always msg them on Facebook

Thanks for the info.

Very envy man! ;p

Jk no need to envy. At price this price and with it quality, i guess it a steal. Go go go!!! ;)

Samyang 14, works well enough for my needs.
For you guys who don't have a UWA, this certainly looks like one more good option.

i think the Samyang 14 and irix 15 are both value for money lenses..if you have no UWA for your K1 right now, getting either one will not make much different to most of us here...more important is to keep shooting..no point keep buying lenses just to keep them in the dry cabinet :)

Yeah man!
I have quite a few lenses for now.
So now, I want to really find more opportunities to shoot what I want with them (travels, family, portraits, etc)

fully agree...must know how to let go and keep snapping...

Ranchy, you tried shifting and you kept the hood on? I didn't see those blackened areas in your images except when I was using with Filters at shift plus minus 24.

Anyways, my 2 tile Vertorama, but 15mm FOV seems to be intact.

Another one is a 3 tile Vertorama ...

Some basic observations -
- Great resolution from the lens, and I dare say it rivals the 15-30 at the edges. Probably better it.
- Firefly's plastics does make it difficult to mount the 95mm filters. The same thing for me when I was using the Sigma 10-20 in the past.
- Great weight versus say the 15-30mm. Firefly hor. Not Blackstone.
- Infinity click on the focusing while quite gimmicky is actually quite a plus in my opinion.
- Better for me to pano than say the 15-30 because pano gear adds weight and this lens help save some overall weight.
- Quite tight focus ring. Not a bad thing ...
- The provided hood has a definitive way of being attached and detached. Don't press on the smaller petal of the hood, press on the bigger petal.
- Complete lack of distortion which is really really useful. It's a pain with some lenses, and cannot be even corrected by PS or LR.

You certainly bring out the best in this lens.

Fantastic shots.

Ranchy, perhaps to move down the Esplanade theatre closer to the Jubilee Bridge. Then you don't have to crop.
