Hello, your 'review' started by saying that "you played with the NEX 5 for 48 hours and here's my discoveries". Of course a RATIONAL reader will assume you are talking about the NEX 5 right and you DISCOVERED the touchscreen!
Re: Atarandas, when complaining about the quality of the kit lens, I am comparing to kit lenses from other manufacturers. No need to compare to G or CZ.
And yes, the Polo lacks that awful wheel spin of the ROC![]()
went down to pc show for a 5 mins hands-on yesterday. 5mins is enough for me to decide this is not a camera for me.
1. no viewfinder
2. too difficult to get to ISO settings
3. shutter sound louder than SLRs, and feels clunky
It's sure sharp enough for me, using 18-55kit. (No pp except resize)

Hey bro, are you trying pull us to not get NEX? Images not too pleasant on my monitor leh?
the shot is over expose...user problem
if yr system expose such as abv... i dare vouch the highlight is unrecoverable
especially more so if shoot in jpeg
Not talking with the over exposure. I mean color is horrendous. Not so good for their target market which is entry levels whom skills in PP is not that much.
BTW, I think that's why cameras are fitted with metering so users wont worry much in exposure.
IMHO, NEX3 and NEX5 are good depending on the user.
- If you are seasoned DSLR user, NEX3 and NEX5 might be frustrating due to lack of controls and reliance on auto settings.
- If you are using a basic PnS, NEX3 and NEX5 are ideal upgrade for you.
I might buy a NEX3 for my 65 year old mother. She only wants to point and shoot. She does not care about controls.
Buy her a handphone camera lah ..... when she needs help, she can contact you ........![]()
I had owned a Pentax Kx once..if u talking about colour.... we can meet up for cup of tea and coffee and had some test... some thing are best not said online regarding my experience with it.
i can live with the various quirks of various dslr...even the old n noisy sony sensor for it ff..

If you guys read dpreview's take on the NEX-5 you will find that the cam has a strong tendency to overexpose. After seeing the pics posted above it is immidiately apparent, its pretty bad. So is the corner softness. Not to mention the pretty inaccurate colours (i'm not sure if its fixable in colour settings though).
A tendency to overexpose would not be a big deal if you could simply dial back exposure compensation...but this is not available in iAuto mode! You have to enter PASM modes to adjust exposure comp. Exposing that far to the right means lots of blown highlights all over the place and really cripples the sensor's excellent dynamic range. This makes it a massive dealbreaker even if used purely in a PnS manner.
Needing multiple button presses to access ISO seems like a mistake
I'm not to fussed about what some are calling the 'slow AF'. Its contrast detect AF after all so we cant expect too much
I've mentioned it before but IMO this cam has excellent hardware (love the size and sensor),ruined by its software, interface and metering, which makes it seem like it is designed to completely turn away enthusiast photographers
I'm definitely keeping an eye out for the next gen model though. If they can tidy up the interface, fix the metering issues, improve the software + lenses and throw in an EVF...holy cow that would be awesome.
