Its a very subjective question and it will never end. Was TS looking for technical specific answer of just user's personal preference answer. If its personal preference,
then the answers will be a lot and never ending ..

Canon - Made In Japan

The body handling is better than Nikon. This is my feeling as im try both Canon 60D / 7D vs Nikon D90 / D7000.

Dude, that's not even a fair comparison. The D90 was part of the series that was directly competing with the Rebels. Also, comparing d7000 and 7D is like comparing D300s and 500D. Obviously, the one geared towards the semi pros would have better handling.

I chose Canon for their user-friendly system, L lenses and their famous white tele Ls.

It doesn't make much difference. Both nikon and canon are good cameras and the comfort level of using either. Unless you are taking this hobby all the way than you need to consider which brand as the lens comes into play. Both has strengths and weaknesses. For once I miss Nikon AF system:). But I like Canons range of glass better:)

Cos 5dmk2 is the most affordable FF?

But they have to keep on improving. Nikon is catching up and has already incorporated AF in their video mode. Iirc, the new entry Canons still don't have autofocus.

Autofocus on a camera system that has shallow DOF is just asking for trouble. I work with tripods and shoulder rigs and find that manual focus gives the operator the freedom to be creative without having to dive into menus or flip A/M switches.

Because 1 phrase says it all: Trusted by Professionals.

Tried both Nikon and Canon when I bought my first DSLR and felt that Canon is more user friendly.

maybe I should search in the nikon, sony, oly sub threat to see if there is similar post before.... "why u choose XXX system" ...

if D80 were cheaper than 400D at the time i bought it, i could be a nikonfanboi now! ;) [got the logic?]

I don't deny that, if everyone getting such DSLRs has a shoulder rig or steadicam.

Having an autofocus mode for the video is always better than not having it, considering that video mode is present in entry level cameras, and beginners will dominate the market for these cameras.

Autofocus in video mode is something that will appeal to new consumers, and in this case, it doesn't have to be actually useful since most consumers would be using these cameras to just record their daily lives, and not use it for professional productions.

IMHO.

Sony has the most affordable FF, not Canon. The last time I checked, the A850 was about 2.8k while 5D2 was about 3.3k.

Yeah agree. Even now Nikon D700 body also cost less than 5D MKII body.

I like the red ring and white lenses. And Canon body is more beefy and so nice to hold especially with large hands like me.

I own a 60D and I like all the function menu buttons and dials that are placed on the right side so I can simply just use my right hand to change all settings or access the menus. My left hand can concentrate holding on to the lens for zoom and focusing. Especially heavy lens like 70-200 F2.8L IS USM or above.

Idk why, but canon's user interface just seems more appealing to me than nikon or sony etc :D

Love the big white Canon L lens, but Sony has it too. Recently saw someone holding a big silver lens, WOW ! very eye catchy kekeke

I find canon user friendly and affordable for a noob like myself haha :D
no regrets so far - self poison ftw
