Why so many people selling D700?

Brand new prices drop recently and rumors of D700 replacement .. Nikon pls give me a D700x or D800 with D3S ISO performance:heart:

There were no updates on the Nikon Price List here on CS for about a year, so checked with Harvey Norman at Millenia today, the price is $3.6+K. Don't think there's any drop.

 Joking right? Such generic electronic retail stores are the last places to check for competitive prices for a D700. Current prices at majority of the "recommended" stores in price guide are around < $3300.:)

Anyway, i think its more of a trend thing. Pardon me if i am generalizing.

I just happen to be in HN, so its just out of convenience. Anyway, if there really is a Nikon price drop, it'll be reflected in all shops, but the RRP is still $3.8+K.

the only viable reason is that the lens of FX camera are too expensive. i feel the same way but i am sticking with my d700... the noise cancellation are just superb compared to my d80...

May I offer a few more reasons?

- They heard about the low noise of D700. But after using it for a few months, they decide to sell it because "the shutter noise is not as low as I expected"

- Wife found the camera while doing spring-cleaning

- Wife googled the price of D700 and found out that it's not "only few hundred dollars"

- GF/BF gave the ultimatum

- The camera was dropped

- Baby vomited milk on the camera

- Switching over to NEX5

- Lost novelty factor

- Bought for investment: did not appreciate in value

- Ran out of harddisk space on the computer

I'd put it down to the fact that perhaps they bought it when it was a fad. :) The turnover rate of cameras here, from what I've seen, is pretty high.

probably for most hobbyists.. cannot justify having d700... too heavy, too expensive, and all the lenses become heavy (FX generally bigger and heavier than dx)

Tachyon, I like your reasons... lol... :)

Too heavy is probably the #1 reason why.

If the D700 is not replaced by NOV 2010 I'll be buying the D3S :D You could call it a Christmas Present... to myself  .

hahaha, this is funny!

buy already but photos never improve, sianzzzzzzz, SSS

lol.

simple reason: with time, there are more sets sold. more sets sold means at the same turnover rate with a larger base means more sets are available in second hand market. which means you will see more "for sale" posts in b&s.

I already DID. Can't wait for Christmas! :D

Actually I have been thinking that for the longest time... get a D3s for myself as Christmas present. Then I will have 2 bodies, no need to mount and unmount the lens... :bsmilie:
