Why not a Pentax forum ..?

I am not A Pentax User but would like to suggest A Pentax Forum in this Site.

That's the problem, how many pentax users will be populating it then? Unless we can guarantee a regular turnout for the forum, we're generally reluctant to open up any new sections.

we all have no idea, but i believe many pentax users will come to this forums since Pentax forum is hard to find else where. Somehow i guess more pentax users than Olympus user in this world, maybe i am wrong.



Why not giving it a try and it won't ge hurt

Why not the other way around? Pentax owners identify themselves. If there is a considerable population, then they can have a place they call home.

Just for the record, would Pentax users please stand up and be counted (i.e. post in this thread). If you'll identify yourselves, the case for a Pentax section would be much stronger, thank you.

I am a Nikon user, what do you think a nikon user promotes a pentax forums?

I am posting this message is to hope make this forum attarctive. i have come acrossed many forums but can't find any forums but only Nikon, Canon, and Minolta. I have just found this site less than 30 minutes ago. i am excited and surprised to see 3 major 3 SLRs forum in 1 site(maybe Photo.net is one of the biggest one), even a not so popular Olympus forum can be found here. Ironically, Olympus threads are more than Minolta threads.

Richard, i have no idea how many Pentax users in this forum and you are right, we hardly find any pentax users in this site but we are hoping in the future.

what I was suggesting is if this site put the Pentax forum up, then many pentax users will join this forum in the future since pentax site and forum are hard to find. Even Olympus threads are outnumber Minoltor threads, Why not pentax..? are Olympus users outnumber Minolta and Pentax users..? we never know.

I just did a cursory search on the word Pentax in our forums. Out of the 100,000 over posts here, there were only 108 counts of the word "pentax". While I agree with you that creating a "Pentax" forum might attract the lost sheep (hehe) from all over the net, on the other hand, it might not. At this juncture right now, we would like to see the response to opening up a section for Pentax users. For want of a place to post, Pentax users might like to consider the "Other Equipment" section at the moment . Once the traffic for Pentax users picks up, the case for their own section will be stronger.

Thank you for your suggestion nonetheless, the team will be looking into this closely!

Offtopic: The Olympus section has very strong following due to their digital cameras offering a fantastic bang for the buck.

More offtopic: Thank you for the comments on my photos, I generally list the type of film I use in the gallery... for that photo, I think it was superia 200...

No Pentax forum here, but there's no lack of Pentax mailing lists worldwide. PDML.net is probably the biggest, if you can handle 200 emails in your inbox each day (and of which, most are off-topic). Search Yahoo groups, and you'll find a few smaller lists which are more focused. Generally divided into Pentax K-mount, and Pentax Spotmatic (M42-/Screw-mount).

Pentx users could post in "Other equipment" too.... and if they grow big enough, there would be enough justification to make it a separate sub-forum.
