Why is crumpler bag so popular?

The KATA bags look very much like a camera bag... not really useful if your aim is getting a camera bag which does not look like a camera bag, i.e. Crumpler...

If I am not wrong, CRUMPLER bags are made from DuPont Codura Plus... its very durable and hardy... CODURA is used in making bags/pouches for the US military...

I agree with the observation that your gear in a Crumpler bag can potentially get wet during a downpour as the closing of the flap is not as "weatherproof" as that of a Lowepro...

true.. but ppl like us who are interested in photography can easily spot a crumpler camera bag right? hee..

I carry the large red plastic bag in my 7 mil dollar home for downpour purposes, just put the whole bag into the plastic bag and tie it up....better than Lowepro's AW.

hey, any tip to AWing the backpack? :D

Go to a shop like Sports Connection or anywhere that sells outdoor backpacks. They will usually have a waterproof cover for rucksacks, looks like a giant shower cap. Sizes are usually given in litres, eg. size for 65L pack, 75L pack. Tends to be in bright colours though.

snoweagle  do it with the thick translucent trashbags, and you can even go swimming with the bag ala river-crossing ops.

Oh those trash bags we use it in the Army. They're very gd!!

By the way the red plastic bag is always in my 7 mil dollar home cos u'll never know when it'll rain when u're outdoors without shelter nearby.
