Why is crumpler bag so popular?

Hmm... I wanted a Domke bag but it is very expensive in Singapore. I settled for Crumpler because buying it in Singapore is cheaper than Australia or U.S.

I am crazy over backpacks. Has used different backpacks (about 7 with all different brands) but nothing beats the crumpler. In my bag, I usually carries a laptop with my camera and my back was hurting a lot. Thus 1 day, I decided to buy a crumpler backpack. Not sure which model but it cost me $258. There was no regrets cause my backache stop. The ergonomics is good cause it moulds to your body and thereby distributing the weight throughout your body. It was a good investment to my health.

Other than that, the stitching is really good.

I've gotten about 6 Crumplers since I got to know them years ago in Australia. They were first made in limited quantities and only sold in Australia and bike messengers loved them. I find their earlier stuff to be better made and last longer. Their first haversacks which I got 3 years ago is showing some tear and wear and loose treads. Of course, I use them quite heavily.

Crumpler is nice but way overpriced for a bag!!!

I feel that it is really paying for the quality. It is the same case between Tamrac and Lowepro bags. The price range is far apart, but so is the quality.

I have 4 Crumplers, and i know they will probably last me a long long while.

Wow, this looks good, but do you have any idea of how much is it?

Hi, the actual Brazilian Dollar bag looks as good as in the pictures. I have seen it about 2 weeks ago at Paragon. But it is really costly. $270/-.

I just got the 7million dollar home. But one thing I noticed is the sides of the bag (near the shoulder strap attachment) there seems to be a hole for the rain water to flow in. This looks terrible as the rain can just drip into the bag depending on the inner folds....

For my other bags there are always "ears" to cover the edges, ie there is no way water will flow INTO the bag....

Have any of you tested the bag in heavy rain?

This looks quite scary to me. Sometimes in heavy rain under an umbrella, my camera bag will get utterly soaked but usually my gear will be fine.

Super overpriced. $270 for a bag.. still considering whether to get it or not.

Maybe D400AW will solve it all..

if you notice there is an inner layer which folds inwards when you close the cover, that's the '2nd defence' against water. during dry weather the compartments can be used to hold small items as well. i'm loving the amount of space that bag gives me!

actually you better go see it...its big...

for sling bag that size and the amount u put inside...your shoulder going to break man...the bag itself its not light...

i got it for less than S$200, first hand :p

actually i was making a comparison between that and Domke models, it's so much cheaper on comparison for similar amount of space for a sling bag :P

Come on, share with us the lobang.

Crumpler bags are extremely well made. Just get a hold of one and look at the stitching. Very straight and even with no stray thread or anything at all. The same can't be said for Oakley bags which cost about as much. And heck, they aren't even splashproof!

older batch of crumpler are tougher than the current batch that's in store. compare a 04 batch to the current batch, the 04 batch will seem much rugged and will stand up to abuse.

the current batch, not only the designs are yucky, the straps looks damn flimsy! like cheapo taiwan straps as compared to previous batches.. all soft soft kind, and the strays threads are visible after 1-2 weeks of use.. older batch, use for 2 yrs also dun have! :nono:

I find the current batch still very tough leh.

I find that the Crumpler bags are big, but the space inside is not as big. But I like one of the smaller bags for a DLSR and a lens. but it is just costly.

herd instinct
one buy all buy
reasonably good quality and lots of marketing
cannot go upscale to real LV stuff, so make do with this
it's the fashion among 20-30 age set
it's costly enough so not all can buy, yet cheap enough so some can buy and feel "semi-exclusive" or "¼ exclusive"
if it costs like a Prada or LV or Bally, then not so many will be using it
it does the job and quite lasting

personally I do not like it especially the bigger ones.
