Why is crumpler bag so popular?

I am using a crumpler myself, to carry my notebook, among other stuffs, during travel for work. However, notice that the shoulder strap can thin out after some time. Wonder if there's any way to improve this? Or is it wear and tear?

Understand from Crumpler that they don't do replacement for shoulder straps of their bag... :( But I love my bag...

didnt want a bag that screams "camera bag" !!! so crumpler is the natural choice.

However, it looks huge like you mentioned and cannot store much gear on the inside.

i beg to differ from ur opinion.. it looks huge but it still can store as much stuff as the other camera bag.. just my opinion lah..:bsmilie:

the Karachi Outpost is bigger than a Computrekker, yet it stores less

crumpler bag dont have zips for main compartment.:thumbsd:
the millon dollar series dun hv a compartment on e outside to put wallet/hp. The compartments r underneath the flap, abit troublesome.
In the end, i slot some other openings v near e shoulder strap.

guess they want u to buy their added item...

Think the older Crumplers are better as they're made in Australia. Now all made in China leh.

Crumpler bags have very good stitchings and are very durable. They also come across as being rather trendy and fashionable imo. Lowepro bags are also very good imo but usually the colour is black so not many options there. Crumpler bags also have better padding.

My crumpler has been subjected to all kinds of abuse when I brought it overseas for shooting in a military context and still going strong :)
The same goes for the lowepro but the way it is woven and the material used tends to cause it to trap more dirt and grime.

Anyway, the Brazillion Dollar Home looks real good. Time to dump my D100AW for it.

here's my opinion...
when i started photography, my first bag was a crumpler. it was trendy, solidly built, loud and no regrets. then my equipment list started to expand and eventually, the bag became smaller...(hahaha) tried squeezing lots of things and it was heavy as hell. no choice but to buy a bigger bag so i tried a lowepro, its the reporter 650AW (biggest). it was the best sling bag ever...can carry all the stuffs including a laptop and very well padded for protection. it can also be quite versatile too. used it as a utility bag for all kind of activities. cost half of the biggest crumpler and never disappoint me till this day. the black is a bit boring but it can never goes wrong in any occassion.

have 4 to 5 lowepros since and realised something...its not about the bag, the equipment or the camera...its the photos! really no point carry the most trendy. loud and expensive gear if the photos you take is consistently mediocre and not improving. rather spend the money on more photo books to hone the skill. own a few pretty decent L-lenses but nowadays only carry the body and 1 wide angle...this setup covers almost everything and great distances too( too much equipment its like full battle order in my army days...shack)

oops..too long winded here...hope my experience is of good use....cheers

what lens ah? i also dont want to carry so much until hunchback. lol...

love travelling and shooting people..mostly using the scenery as backdrop to create some sort of journalistic pic....the 17-40L is one of my lightest and robust lense. sharp and pretty proportional when mated with a 1.6x crop body. just dump everything into a toploader 75AW and keep a spare lens ( 100mm macro for those ridiculously beautiful plants/insects or sharp portraits) or a flash ( if anticipating gloomy days).
50mm/1.4 is bright but not versatile enough. 70-200/2.8 and 28-70/2.8 are heavy beast.
the occasion sling bags can be quite taxing on your back. i recommend the lowepro rover haversack...compare to crumpler haversacks, cheaper, lighter adn look more serious...quite versatile too. dun try the all black one with heavy padding for the waist, its heavy .Theres also the specialist 85AW which must hook to the harness( like army SBO), but can look a bit ridiculous....hehe..
already offload a few bags that are really white elephants..if given a chance just for 1 bag...it will be the 650AW. its the biggest and most practical.
if a crumpler will be my choice of brand...will buy one of the biggest messenger bag (bee knees or fux deluxe) and coupe with a bucket....the bag for normal day use...beach/gym etc...then insert the bucket for photography trips....can be quite ex....enough to buy a lowepro plus memory cards...

Hi do you all have any idea on how much is the 6 million dollar and 7 million dollar bag?
Thanks

130-140. There is a thread on Crumpler price list.
