why does a monk needs 15k/month salary?

Why would buddha want their students to live simple and a non materialistic life? If the reason is to raise money to help the poor, cure the sick then buddha would have use his influent and healing power. But instead, he teaches his student about karma, born, illness and death is part of life and unavoidable. Being so call devoted student of buddha, these monk did not follow buddha teaching but instead sell these urns like private estate, run their temple like corporation, behaving like CEO, raise money instead of purifying people spiriturally.

True cultivators of the spiritual path will not choose to live a luxurious life even if they have the means. The spiritual path is a path of letting go of all desires, because it can prevent a person from seeing the truth.
Can you believe a person who drives an expensive car, visits high-class restaurants & spends on expensive items tells you that he is not attached to any of these?
The answer is no, if he made the above decisions by himself, which were governed by greed!
Now, I am not refering that the Ceo of a particular charity hospital is guilty of greed. We do not know how he lives his life, so can't make any comment about it.
Moreover, the Buddhist practice teaches us to accumulate merits & not to spend merits!
Accumulating merits will ensure us a better life now & in future rebirth. Spending one's merits will only increase greed & creates many unwholesome karma.

There are many taoists & monks who offer chanting services for funerals. Some are fake ones, I overheard somebody who talked about the easy money that can be made from offering such services. These few people(taoists) do not know very much about the traditional chanting & procedures, they just invent their own and then go around offering their services!
And even if some monks know how to chant the sutras, they may not do it in a proper & respectful manner. As somebody has said, they are chanting but their hearts are not in the chanting. Do you think they can bring any benefits to the dead with such incorrect attitude during the chanting services?
It is best to seek the advice from a respectable monastery for any funeral services. Don't pay unnecessay money to those cheats. These cheats will have to receive punishment after their present lives.

Religion itself is pure. It's the people who practice it that make religion complicated and complex. If one is able to influence others (esp towards weak-minded), then he can gain access to all the wealth these people have cumulated.

ON Discovery channel recently, there was a documentary on Shaolin Temple. The chief abbot said, matter of fact, that he ran the temple like an organisation, and himself as the CEO. He controls the Shaolin trademark, expand his temple compounds, manage the Shaolin gongfu troupes etc. His reason for doing so? Modernisation. In the 21 century, Shaolin temple cannot be left behind by time. It also has to revolve to keep up with the times.. Look at the other temple sects, eg Ermei, Wudang etc, they have seem long gone etc.

Seen in that direction, they are doing the right thing. But true monastic cultivation in the temple has to give way to all these modern activities. True cultivators do not live in a crowded tourist attraction and become the objects of tourists' cameras. When you choose one thing, you have to let go of the other.
