but got binoculars, scanners, umbrellas, polo and t-shirt, bags... n now even god

tripods

haha, but basically nikon specializes in making optics? So one reason why we go back to using Nikon is their lenses?

Becouse it's so reliable NASA use it for their space mission!!! ;)

I no choice, i use Nikon because my dad like it, and he was the one footing the bill........

when took up photography, nikon seems like the only brand i knew from kid....
then bought the F55 SLR and started using it....
then just continue using nikon... never really tried other brands before....
but my brother bought the Cannon Digital Rebel and i tried it.... but liked the nikon feel better...
(not starting anything brand war here, just sharing experience)

actually a lot of ppl start using a camera brand, then continue using it...
i believe both and other brands are equally good, and each has its own weakness....

just enjoy the process of shooting pics and pay less attention to brand and equipment...
that will give us more time to enjoy the hobby..... :)

That very true. I guess i wont be switching brands

For me, when I was buying my first camera, the Nikon FM was Love At First Sight, like a girlfriend, wife and mistress all roll into one :lovegrin: How to explain Love? :dunno:

You reminded me I need to bring my FA to change shuttle .. not so much as to use it but it has been with me long enough since I started .. :sweatsm:

Where can you still find your needed spare part?

Ooo... Don't start a flame war...

Just prefer Nikon for dSLR... But I prefer Canon compacts... Haven't really tried Nikon compacts though... One day...

I think by the question "Why do you shoot nikon?" we are supposed to speak from personal preferences... So other brand users shouldn't be offended right? After all everyone here only speak for themselves.

For me I started out with a D40 cos of its cheap price. Now I stay with Nikon for my upgrade coz I enjoy the comfort of the grip & the accessibility of the buttons and functions, and my dad's collections of old lens..

I just got started with the D90, so I don't carry any brand loyalty from the past... I would if Ricoh makes DSLRs! :D

Anyways, what got me attracted to the D90 was the feature set. The fact that it can do videos was an enticing factor for me. If Canon had come up with their hypothetical 500D that should be offering the same feature first, I might have gone Canon le...

when i decided to start with a D50,
and subsequently D200.
I get so used to the operation that when I try out other makes, I keep insisting on how user-friendly and ergonomical Nikons are! That is why I shoot Nikon and will continue to shoot Nikon.
(deep down inside i know it is because 'I got so used' to it; If I grew up speaking French, I will find that Chinese is a tough language to learn)
I will give up on remarkeable advances in other makes to stay with Nikon.
I guess somehow felt 'connected' and 'belong' to the big Nikon family where our hearts are with the image. :bsmilie:

Nikkors are fabulous too!

So now I two foot into the dark side, point of no return, no regrets. ;)

its true la. i dun really fancy nikon's PnS. canon's PnS easier to use in my opinion. slr wise, im all for nikon. fanboys~

yup, somehow I am so used to a nikon system. Although i need to scroll through using 6 keys just to change the iso settings, I got so used to it.. doesn't really bother me anymore:bsmilie:

The ergonomics of my d40x just feels right for me. Nikon is where the lighted side is;p

the first camera i owned was a pentax, great camera and still got it. but when i picked up a 2nd hand nikon F801, i was sold. it had good weight and felt solid. it's been nikon ever since.

my d40x may not be as big or solid as the 801, but it pretty much does everything i want, plus i can use my old AFD lenses.

The answer is simple, one is made by photographers for photographers and highly specialised in optics while the other is made by a marketing company who label white lenses as beautiful.:dunno:

And the best thing to stick with Nikon is that those legendary AI/AIS lenses made from 1977 are still useable on today's DSLR.
