Why do you need 24mm f/1.4L lens?

You just need to read more reviews and find more pictures. ;) Can't run away...hahaha.
YOOUUUUU.. stop poisoning me already. i'm already eyeing the 16-35 f2.8...

freaking this is a super wide 12-24 non fisheye. Only downside is the non-constant aperture.

die. -.-

Haha.

I have the 16-35 f/2.8 (first gen). Barrel distortion is quite pronounced, but that's my only major grievance. My copy is really quite sharp wide open, something I'm really happy with, and perhaps I've got a good copy, because I've heard of lots of copies producing soft images wide open.

Are you looking at the first or second generation?

now I'm presenting with an even wider lens without going fisheye that's reputedly quite good. Only downside I see so far is the non-constant aperture.

die. >_<

u will need a 24 mm f1.4 cos you might need to shoot at low light situations and you still want nice bokeh at wide angle..

distortion ? frankly.. i find distortion very well controlled.. cos prob I am very used to using wide angle ( 12mm ) .. so no issue.. I am usig a full frame by the way..

I use it for portraits, weddings etc.. it is one of my fav lenses.. basically.. u have to see wats yur shooting style to know y u need the lens...
its the same for all lenses..

some shots with the 24 mm wide open..

Woah, very nice examples! This is tempting.........! Oh yes, i find the 35mm 1.4 very sharp too (even at widest aperture) and has a pleasant pattern of bokeh

All I have to say about the 35mm f/1.4L is that it's a magic lens. :D

This was a lens I wanted really badly some months ago but never got down to buying it. Looking at some of the sample photos the thin DOF at 1.4 can really be put to good use to make a subject pop out from the background, a 3D look, as most would call it.

There's supposed to be some sample variation out there. While it's supposed to be nice and crisp from wide open, some samples are really sad. On a crop camera it becomes something like a 56/1.4 though, so maybe some of the appeal is gone for semi-wide shooters.

On a crop camera (if I still owned one), I'd be picking a 24/1.4 for a low light prime over the Sigma 30/1.4 because of the wider field of view and better border quality.
