To let me spend lots n lots of $$$ on something which is expanding as time goes by and i know it will be a very LOOOONG time.... :bsmilie:

but hey i'm loving it...

Photography have the therapy effect for me. It makes you feel good to see your own creation when you are stress.

On the other hand, photography is a good way of keeping a piece of memory. When I look back into my past photos, it helps me to reflect back my memory and the happy moment or sad moment I went thru in the past.

A piece of photo you shoot might worth nothing now but in many years to come, it is priceless.. it tells a story and reminds you of your past.

because it makes me happy.

When I saw this message, it reminded me of a conversation I had with someone long time ago.

Somebody in school (one of my juniors) asked me the same question, the reason why I love photography so much. I gave the same reply like yours - because it allows me to keep a piece of my good moments.

Then my junior promptly shot back, "Then why not videography? It allows you to record the entire event rather than just one frame. Don't you think it will be a better medium compared to photography?" That question, at that moment really caught me off guard, but I just laughed it off, saying something like god probably preferred me to use a SLR camera rather than a video camera.

So guys, if somebody asked you the same question, what is your reply?

And have a good weekend folks.

Regards,
-Michelle- :D

Sometimes I find that, if u "do not" take that photo, and instead only use yr eyes to capture that moment and keep inside your mind, the memory is much more better than a print or a display on screen.

you need a video player to watch the recorded moment. I print my photos. feel like looking at them as when I am free...

video tends to degrade in quality as it ages. you cannot garrantee that 10 yrs down the road, you can still use the same technology to watch your video.

Photo? worst come to worst it turns yellowish. The nostagia value is there... no need to explain much ;)

I think its more of a preference for me. Video can record the entire event but I like the challenge capturing that split second moment in one or afew frames. And I'll prefer working on photoshop rather than premiere or final cut pro anytime. ;p

photography amazes me because thru it, i learnt new things everytime i touch the camera.. the way u see things, the way u compose ur frame, the analytical aspect of deciding what exposure under what conditions... wow.. its really an amazing art to master.. cheers all...

Like to keep those memories that i have come across.

to share the things I've seen...
to refresh the memories I've created...
Photography = "turning a split second into eternity"

I like the smile it brings to my face when I see a moment captured exactly the way I want it...sometimes even beyond my expectations... :)

I don't like videography because to make it meaningful needs lots and lots of editing, which I don't have the flair or patience to do it.

In photography, I use film, so I let the lab do it for me.

Because if I capture half a lifetime's worth of video, I'll need to spend the next half of my life to view it - not a very intelligent move, imho. Still pictures more often than not requires only a glimpse for our minds to recreate the memories.

I second that.

Adding on, by capturing 'that' moment on print, you'd probably be able to share it with someone and relive the moment in years to come... it'd give you that warm tingling inside you....

Cos too many frames spoil the picture........... ;)

oops..didnt see this post..

anyway i was thinking, capturing a single frame rather than capturing a whole series of it is far more demanding in terms of skills. in video, u just aim the cam there. but photography tests yr skills to respond to a situation tht lasts in fractions of a second in lieu of so many variables like ISO, etc.

and as someone mentioned this before, it's capturing a moment in time and freezing it for eternity. plus u dont need electricity to show the results..(photos) ;p

because it brings in money

;p

because long after i'm gone, if the pictures are well kept, no matter how badly they were taken, people will have a bit of the past to behold.
