Why do people think Singaporeans are rich and must subsidize their country's roads?

Yes, each country can set its rules. Singaporeans can decide no to go/go less in view of this. Is the VEP is meant to close the COE loophole of foreign registered cars? In view of the rising COE, should increase the VEP drastically, say to $100. Then likewise, they can decide not to come. Especially the tens of thousands each morning.

Unless you think S'pore could survive without all those, how you put it.... 'Tens of thousands each morning'... from working at jobs S'porean is unwilling to do... shipyard, cleaner, cooks, 40% of SBS's bus divers... etc. Do you think its possible that the gahman will take your 'advice/suggestion' ??

Let's hope they consider to up VEP because COE really shot up. It was reduced from $30 to $20 in 2004 when the COE previously went down. Now COE is back to record high levels.

Honesly, Singaporean are really rich so it's alright to rob some of their wealth to lay on the tarmac.....it's still better than being kidnapped and pay for the ransome :)

Wow... me as a lowly Train Officer in SMRT is suppose to be in the top 7% of the World Riches.... somehow, I would take the News with a 'Super Tanker' full of salt... mainly because of the donations button on the right of the page. :bsmilie:

Here's a Global Pay Scale (GPS) calculator from BBC for those whom are interested. It doesn't take into account less-developed countries offering a somewhat more accurate perspective.
