Why do people bother to shoot events ?

i do not understand why must we go into the topic of breaking each other's rice bowls thou...

but my point of view is that, if you are shooting for a living, u will say that shooting events for free or hobby is plain bodoh.

but those hobbyist take that shooting events for free is more or less like going for IMT range or going for range practice or trainfire even. more or less it more of a free equipment testing session.

nevertheless, going with a proper mindset is good. i always get to hear pple saying this.

"why go model shoots... so expensive.."
" i pay $10 go see show, shoot modelS shoot until seow ah..."

i dun understand why compare models u see in shoots to those u see in shows.

and i started out shooting events too.... :bsmilie:

Since someone asks for a comment.

Some are emboldened and energised by event photography. Some are scarred by it.

You only have to read the comments to know the injured and dispirited souls.

At least The Eventgelists have big flash guns and twinkles in their eyes. Not to mention the ladders for an elevated view of the world below.

no la...dun worry...

no one going to wack u for putting out that statement on human behaviour...;)

I was hoping those people who are up there shooting to comment and give feedback why...

yes, everyone starts off somewhere. Agreed. but i dun think the bone to pick here is the event-cum-laddergang-photographer per se but more their behavior and attitude.

i think the reasoning is simple. it is their own area of interest.

photography is so broad. one can't force another person to accept that macro-photography is the only photography or birding, or portraiture, or landscape.. etc.etc.

it's the greatest mystery since the great mystery of whether Qin Shi Huang or Cain is still alive today.

guess we've to accept that some ppl enjoy it and that they might have to be more considerate to the genuine spectators crowding behind them and their ladders.

Yeah, we can mock and laugh at them, ridicule them even, but at the end of the day, we've got to come to terms to the fact that what matters most is that they are doing what they like, as long as nobody gets hurt in the process.

Hey, compensatory behaviour can be therapeutic ya know?;)
