You are right. It is too good to be true. The ratings also look like they are all recirculated amongst each other.

IIRC, 8GB SD card recorded using AVCHD should give you about 1hr. Much less if you use MJPEG mode.

Included Photofunstudio for Windows allows you to transfer your movie recordings to DVD (in SD). Anything that can play regular DVD video should be able to play that (but still in SD). Playing in HD would need something like a BD player... or something else that can play AVCHD.

Please see other reviews for + & - of the kit lens... You can mount Leica M lenses with a suitable adaptor(s), but with manual focus. I think metering will work if you set to aperture priority.

Can, as data. Do remember HD video has its own format. I can't remember what was decided on eventually during the HD wars. I think Bluray settled on some version of the ancient MPEG2 codec.

Is there anyone that had used the gh1 to record hd movies in avchd format, then use the come-with software to burn the movies onto a dvd while retaining the avchd format?

I really need to be clear abt this before i purchase for my dad.

Lastly, what is the largest capacity sd card that is supported by gh1?

You can burn it in avchd directory structure using any recording software. However, regular dvd players CANNOT play avchd.

You can use the included software on windows to re-encode and burn as standard DVD video. But I have not done so - the only software they provide for my mac is Silkypix for RAW processing.
