Just seen on dde singapore its available for preorder for 4099SG$ for the D800E

not bad.

Also wanted to ask since this is a Who will be pre-ordering ;-) thread

Apart from names of people, will the previous camera model users also shed some light for example

1. Will d700 users who primarily do stills only
2. D 7000 users
3. d3 users

would be good to know this as well as why they want to upgrade.

Based on DDE price trend, wouldn't that mean the local price would be even cheaper??

Something not quite right... the D800 and the D800E listed as the same price.

There's also a banner saying its $4416 too. Hence u better pre-order before they change

yup i noticed the same thing.

but the price for the D800E is 3300 US$ which is roughly the same as 4109SG$
unless Nikon as per recent trends want the price to be the same world wide ? I have never understood why these things are cheaper in the US of A whereas they are manufactured in Asia.

Yup they made a mistake in their shopping cart then :-)
So the Cameras are expensive by around 300US$ in Singapore then.

Well to be honest with you all, I got so excited that as soon as the announcements were made I Googled pre orders for D800 and saw that BHphoto.com was taking pre ordered for D800E, so I pre ordered... then i began to read about the moire and was like.. hm... been waiting so long to upgrade from D200, that even with out the extra "edge" of sharpness I should see a tons of improvement, so then I did another search a few hours later that night and saw that Amazon was taking pre orders for the D800 model. then off I went to pre order it. Now I've sent an email to cancel the D800E. Nikon warns that this camera is for people who really know what they are getting into when shooting with a camera that can cause moire and prone to wrong colors. i can't be bothered with that. Anyway, funny thing, today, I also did another search and found that the D4 was available again for pre order and yup, you guest it, I also pre ordered. Why? Because i don't cost me a thing and considering how low stocked they are... I have time to really consider getting the one I want and cancelling the one I don't want, but at least I can be sure that I will hopefully get one sooner than when it becomes generally available months later... by the way, where can you preorder in SG???

I emailed cathay photo, one of the biggest store locally, they don't take pre-order as they dun have a price from local NSC....

Called Orient, MS color and Alan Photo to register my interest. Hope to get a call soon!
Being a kiasu Singaporean, also pre-ordered at Shashinki :embrass:

Price of D700 @ DDE website

D-1: 3.2k
D-day when D800 was announced: 4.1 k!
wtf

and now D800 pre-oder is lower than D700 on sale?...

I did that last night. The D800E. At 9.43am today they sent me an email to inform me that my order was confirmed. At 11.37am they sent me another email informing me my order has been declined. Haha. It was worth a try!

Nice try indeed :P

I would really think the price will be lower when official launch in SG. Taking the trend that DDE usually marks up the value even though they are selling grey sets..

Just checked... now they list D800 as S$4599 and the D800E as S$4999. A lot more than the US MRSP after conversion leh. Anyone going to organize group buying from the US? :bsmilie:

Warranty not there leh...

Hey guys just wondering who will be pre-ordering either D800 or D800E? And who will wait for the second batch to come first ?

as my usual practice with most electronic goods - i'll wait for 2nd or later batch

I'll guess the difference will be abt 7% GST that's all. If I want first batch, then even more reason to get locally in case got any cockanathan manufacturing problem.

Warranty not there leh...

But you know what even that there is no warranty after using a brand new Nikon for more than 1yr without any hickup i'm temping to pre-order from USA since its having so huge difference in price

Does anyone remember/have a reference as to what was the price of the D3 / D3x / D3s or D700 when they were announced?? At 4.5K it feels a bit steep to me, but then it might be because its just the first batch..?? I pressume Nikon will sooner or later release a D4x...!!!??? :)

If getting first batch, better play safe and get local ones.. Unless. Want to wait... I really dun wish to wait if possible..

I m buying for sure.
